Huge Girls Summer Tournament

Post by dcgjones »

Next Saturday and Sunday June 21 & 22 @The Root in Gallipolis, OH part of the University of Rio Grande Girls Camp. Completely sold out for 2 days of great basketball.

So far that i know of
Fairland and Parkersburg Wv will be there.

Must see basketball for a look at what's coming next season.

That sounds like a fantastic basketball camp! It's great to see such enthusiasm and early talent. While showcasing young athletes is valuable, I wonder if placing so much pressure on such young players might inadvertently lead to burnout or an unhealthy obsession with the sport, particularly if adults are overly invested in their success.

Several team with players on vacation and such, so things will change alot before fall

19 Teams playing... I believe at one time there was 10-15 on waiting list

Fairland, Cabell Midland, Grafton , Doddridge 1 and 2, Chesapeake, Mcclain, St Albans, Fed Hocking, Perkins, Glenwood, Liberty Union, Eastern Brown, Portsmouth west, Fairfield, Piketon, Gallia , Watkins Glenn.. Grafton

Quick recap with what i got to see

Fairland----cream of the crop. Finished undefeated. If i remember correctly beat everyone by at least 25-30.. 8- 9 deep!!!
Cabell ----- Really good team competed well with Fairland
Chesapeake --- Has transfer from Fairland,,with Her and the other guard should do pretty well
Portsmouth west--- New coach, solid team , has some height,, should do well
Fed hocking---- Biggest surprise. Guard play really good.. Not sure what waterford has, but this could be a batter this year Press was really good
Piketon ---- hoping they have enough for a team
Grafton -- solid team
Gallia -- will be a struggle. Played hard. Couple more years will be able to compete really well.

Hoping next year a few more southern ohio teams join

Also RIo boys basketball shoot out talked about being held here instead of the really hot gyms in rio..

Wonder if Piketon had kids out for vacation etc…that should be a very solid group next year if I remember correctly.
