I really hope you all don't see much into these previews and scrimmages. I have seen parts of atleast 5 or 6 scrimmages and most of the preview and if you count the girls that play in them it is always 12-15. Most of the TVC teams in a true varsity game will play maybe 8 - 10. Of the teams I am fairly familiar with I have seen girls play that will not even see varsity time yet. But it is great experience for the young girls to see the difference of the competition level. Also an experienced coach would not want to show to much of what they have got anyway. In previews that is. But I think we are headed for a very competitive TVC Ohio. VC will be much improved. Athens will be close to or at the top. I think NY lost to many PPG to replace in one year. Probably the same for Meigs. Belpre has pretty much everyone back and seem very scrappy but have trouble scoring without a shooter in the game. Alex lost way to much. Someone help me here. How many Seniors did they lose? Wellston will be improved from last years rough year. Update on the coach saga? Good luck to all TVC teams.

Alex lost 6 seniors total, 3 being starters. (Smith, Raines, and McClain).
However they do come back with a pretty good starting 5 this year. They will only play about 7-8 deep this year tho, that is a big problem for Coach Guthrie this year. If the starters get tired, hurt, or in foul trouble, that may put the Spartans in trouble. Having seen everybody play this year, nobody really impressed me that much in the TVC-Ohio, so with that being said, I have to go with the defending champions to win it again this year. Nelsonville York, Athens, and VC could be right up there as well, but I think my Spartans will come out on top once again. At first I thought Athens would be at the top spot, but seeing them in the preview, and them losing the first two games by quite a few points, got to go with the best coach in the TVC and the Red and Black.

I think in these early games you have to look at the level of competition as well and not just the wins and losses. Vinton, Alex and Athens all lost early to some quality opponents. Should be an interesting year if you follow girls basketball.

Athens hasn't played quality opponents yet. Maybe they've been out coached.

Out of curiosity if Logan and Gallia are not quality opponents who do you call a quality opponent? P.S., how's your son doing? I heard he got cut from his intramural team.

Scot Sturgill is the coach at Wellston.... He is a former standout guard for the Rockets back in the late 90's.....

Great come from behind win for Athens. Good job girls. Great coaching down the stretch for the Bulldogs. The Willis sisters combined for 26. Belpre hung in late with a big 3 pointer from Flowers with about 20 seconds left to send it to OT. Fitch also high point for the night with 25. Athens pulled away in OT. Good Luck VS. Ripley.

A very much improved Wellston team.... Started 4 freshmen I believe... Only down by 6 at halftime against a very good meigs team. Good Luck to both teams.
