Final score: NY 57, Athens 42 in TVC opener.
Mack Hurd with 22 points, 11 rebounds, 7 steals and 3 assists.
Cayleigh Dupler adds 14 points and 9 rebounds.
Bailey Davis leads Athens with 14 points.

Both teams played a very competitive game tonight.
Athens was down their center (sickness) but manage to use a comeback to take a 16-15 run before NY went on a 29-6 run to open the game. Athens did mange to use small runs to kept the game between 7-15 points for most of the game.
This series has been so lopsided (NY leads it 16-11 since 2008), NY has won their 14 straight tonight, prior to that, Athens won 11 in a row. Most of these games are blowouts and the games themselves aren't that competitive. This is not what people saw tonight. Athens battle the entire game and this game felt like it.

There is absolutely no reason for it, the talent is there but you have to know how to use the talent.

Even playing SG has to be a slap in the face to such a storied program but to lose to them must have been unthinkable. WOW!

Athens beat River Valley 38-37 at home last night to improve to 4-13 overall and 4-5 in TVC. Bulldogs play @ Vinton next week alnong with some non leauge games. Girls tournament bracket is relased on Sunday around 3pm.
