Lady Rebels pull away from Female Flyers

CROWN CITY — The St. Joseph Female Flyers just need to realize two halves make a whole.

The Female Flyers played well in one half before struggling in the second half in a 49-30 loss to the South Gallia Lady Rebels.

“We played pretty well the first half, we just made too many mistakes in the second half. Our defense played well, but our offense just had too many turnovers,” said Female Flyers coach B.J. Hannon.

Katie Schwab hit a pair of 3-pointers to help offset eight points by the Rebels Jennifer Sheridan as the Female Flyers took a 13-11 lead.

Sheridan had 10 points in the second quarter as South Gallia rallied to take a 25-19 lead. Katie Hacker scored four of the Flyers six points.

South Gallia outscored the St. Joseph 11-7 in the third quarter to up its lead to 36-26.

The Lady Rebels continued to pull away in the fourth quarter by outscoring the Female Flyers 13-4. Charleigh Haas all of the St. Joseph points.

Haas and Hacker scored eight points each to lead a balanced St. Joseph offense. Katie Schwab added six points and Michelle Staton five.

Sheridan led all scorers with 21 points. Nikki Fulks added 11 points.

St. Joseph will play at 5:30 p.m. Thursday at Harvest Christian.
