....the Parkerburg South girls basketball team won the West Virginia AAA state title tonight by beating Huntington 51-43. The team finished 26-1 (they had two wins over Warren and one win over Marietta) and the program now has two state titles.

Also, Huntington St. Joe lost in their class in the championship today to Wheeling Central.

Very hard fought game by Huntington High they did a very nice job congrats to the teams that won

With their enrollment size they would be D1 in Ohio.

They would only be a district team in Ohio. I have seen them several times this year and in the past. A nice team but not great.

actually they(South) are very good-about 9 deep-a little more than a Ohio district team I would say... one of their 6-footers is the best of their many 3point threats...sometimes we get a little carried away with ohio-westva comparisons, I agree, they wouldn't be DI state champs in Ohio but they are very athletic and disciplined-a rare combo!!!

true! - like any team, takes a little luck with seeds/match-ups when making run in the tourney...they are good-not your typical westva team.

I have seen them several times over the past few years (about last eight). It has nothing to do with Ohio vs WV, it is just basketball.

They would have to play in D1 in Ohio and since there is no SEO D1 district they would get shipped either to central or east. Name one regional D1 team from either region they can beat?

sorry, I havent seen any of those team play THIS year, all I am saying is that South would be a tough draw for anyone...various trapping defenses along with solid man/man and very capable offensive from 20' in...
