Pay close attention to your schedule. 23 games is one to many.

Couldn't they just fine the school instead of making them forfeit? Not fair to the seniors.

This is not an “honest mistake”! It is a NEGLIGENCE!. Anyone with the slightest knowledge of HS basketball knows this! Cannot believe a coach , administrator or even a parent would not notice this! The worst is the people paying the price are the ones who had no control or knowledge of this. The Seniors just got a lifelong memory flushed because of Negligence!
Kids paying for adult mistakes is ludicrous.
I wonder if OHSAA will suspend any adults like they do kids for trying out for an AAU team.

I feel terrible for the girls. They had a chance to win their first tournament game in a long, long time.

How easy would it have been to cancel a game with New Hope Christian Academy!

I can't believe that the coach or AD didn't count the scheduled games as they were filling the schedule. At some point this season someone had to have noticed they had 23 scheduled and then it would have been easy to cancel a non league game.
The kids pay because the athletic director screwed up.

They knew the rules, they just didn't pay close attention when doing the schedule. That's worse in my opinion.

Sounds like the issue was this...it was a scheduled scrimmage, but New Hope charged admission to the game, which made it an official contest. Still should've been caught.

I checked arbiterlive for both schools this morning, both had it listed as a scrimmage. I suppose that’s where the misunderstanding occurred.

It’s a first year HC, but his assistant has been around forever. You’ve never been able to play more regular season games than you’re allowed.

You get 4 and it doesn’t matter when they are. But, calls should have been made to 100% make sure that it was still a scrimmage.

On SVC Sports Zone, the score and stats were reported though, which obviously makes it feel like they knew it counted as a game then.

Seems like score was being kept. Scrimmages, scores get reset every quarter. Seems like they were treating it as a game. The real question is did the coach submit that game as part of their record for seeding? That answer right there will tell you if he counted it as a game or not.
