East District- DIVISION IV- 2021's Cinderella Story

Post by Soccerfan1 »

In this year's Division IV Girls Basketball tournament, the seedings have been fairly accurate. I have looked at every District Final games and noticed that there is only 1 team seeded above a #5 seed.... #12 seeded Bishop Rosecrans.

The Lady Bishops have traveled to Tuscarawas Central Catholic (#3 seed) and won by 16 points, travelled to Shenandoah (#5) and beat them by 2, and most recently beat #7 Caldwell in the District Semi-Finals by 7.

The Lady Bishops are gelling and playing like the coach has hoping all year for them to play like. They have a core of girls that have played a majority of the year, but the bench has highlighted in several games throughout.

Saturday, the Lady Bishops travel to take on the #1 ranked Shadyside Lady Tigers on in Shadyside. This is the same matchup from last year's Sectional Championship game.... #9 seeded Rosecrans upset the highly favored #3 seeded Lady Tigers in 2OT... 43-38

Just to remind those that have forgotten, this program at Rosecrans has 612 wins (started in 1972), 20 Sectional titles (back to back 2020 and 2021); 13 District Titles; 11 Regional Titles, 7 State Finals appearances and 3 State Titles... So, Cinderella might have some history to support this year's run.

Good Luck Saturday, Lady Bishops!!

Big congrats to the Lady Bishops, for sure. The McLaughlin girls, Carlisle and friends have played really hot lately. 3 MSL-Cardinal teams playing for District Titles tonight and tomorrow & one of them (Berne Union) could go real deep.
