Should be a good measuring stick for Portsmouth varsity here tonight with a very good fairland team , interesting to see how Portsmouth can play with a a good experience team.

Question answered .....this fairland team is the real deal,I'd say they are a final 4 contender.

46 to 23 , fairland at half time.

We got off to a really slow start but it wouldn't have mattered.

I heard from an acquaintance Amy’s sister was escorted from the gym for abuse of a ref. Initially she was suspended for the year but, with some encouragement, now the ref is reconsidering and they are lessening it to a game or two. Again, Hughes family runs the show down here they will get it fixed so she can come back. Rules don’t really apply to them it seems.

Team is realllllllllllly good and should
walk through the OVC including Fairland. State Bound! Go Trojans!!
Final Score - Fairland over Portsmouth 87-45
@TrojanDon , not a good idea to give a good team bulletin board material.

Fairland was 3 points away from the final four last year. They returned every starter from that team and added 4 very talented freshman. They only lose 2 starters off this years team. It’s a solid future for both schools.

My first look at the dragon girls and I was really impressed, they have it all ,not only a lot of talent but they play very hard from start to finish ,like I posted before I'd not be surprised to see them back at the final four again.

Portsmouth biggest problem is not a very big bench but will get some help from the 8th grade program next year ,and we will have the entire varsity back next year.

Impressive performance from the Dragons. Rotation is 8 deep. All 8 can handle & all 8 can shoot it.
I kinda thought they may struggle with Portsmouth’s size but I was way wrong. Dragons sped the game up early with pressure defensively & Portsmouth just couldn’t slow the game down.
As mentioned above there aren’t a lot weaknesses on this Fairland team. They’re deep, experienced, & talented… should be another deep tournament run for Coach Buchanan

You been around on here long enough to know you have to read between the lines some times, the Portsmouth fans already know the lady Dragons was the best team they would see in the league .

Rules don’t apply to them. Went to a game during covid when tickets were 2 per player only. Half the gym were Hughes family. Only ones in the gym not wearing masks😷

Portsmouth girls received a good ole fashioned beat down by the best team on their schedule. No loss is a good loss in my mind, but Fairland has a heck of a team, lights out shooting. So maybe it’s not a good loss, but it will humble the young Trojans. They are a good team, with some talented girls. But a lot of hype and pressure had been on them. Lady Trojans seem to have had the same problem as the boys had the other night. Can’t let teams continue to hit uncontested 3 pointers.

I :D :D have been told the same and it's from someone I definitely consider reliable.
Heard they have worn out their welcome
Nope you’ve heard wrong sir..
Amy does fantastic job with the girls while Mike brings vast amount of knowledge to the game. This family works for the district and is here for the long haul. There will be great success for PHS girls hoops over the next 4 years
There is a reason they have always switched schools :D

Congratulations to the Lady Dragons on a convincing win. They showed last night that not only are they the class of the OVC, but are a potential Final 4 team as well.

Portsmouth is still a good team worthy of a possible top 3 finish in the OVC. All 5 starters are back for the 23-24 season, then add the PJHS team which beat the JH Fairland team 45-8 and are undefeated thus far. The Trojans should be a very good team next season with realistic goals of winning the OVC and a possible run to the regionals or Final 4.

They are a good team and will be next year too. I don’t look for them to challenge fairland in OVC for a couple more years though. Fairland is going to be a state championship contender the next 4 years. Portsmouth could make a final four run next year however as they are in D3 and fairland will be D2 this year and next. Probably move back to D3 after that.

Both these teams will be fun to watch for a few years , besides the Jr. High class at portsmouth I've heard they have 2 sisters moving to Portsmouth at the end of school year. Both parents will be professors at SSU.

I know they got a transfer this year, I know they have some junior high kids, but I think they may need more than 2 if they plan to plaay like last night. Really disappointed to see kids gasping for air.

I wouldn't be to concerned about last night's game, fairland will do that to everyone in the OVC .

What was the score of the fairland vs Ironton game?

Rock Hill won 59-36

Before you decide to repeat a story, ask yourself three questions: 1) Is it true (Eph. 4:25)? 2) Is it kind (Eph. 4:32)? 3) Is it necessary (Eph. 4:29)? If not, please don't repeat it (Lev. 19:16; Prov. 11:13; 16:28; 17:9; 18:8; 1 Tim. 5:13).
