Fairland in trouble.

42-29 Canal Fulton NW heading to the 4th.

Fairland 32% (12-38) from the field. 2-13 from 3, 3-10 on FT's.

Looking at the final stats, it was a pretty even game except for shooting percentages. In all three categories, FTs, FGs, and treys, Fairland shot just less than 60% of what Canal Fulton's percentage was. My question is was that more due to the CF defense or the wide open expanse of the venue?

Fairland passed on a lot of wide open driving lanes to kick and shoot 3's. I know they usually hit at a higher clip, but with the 6'2 center in foul trouble early, they had a chance to take advantage of those driving lanes and shot themselves out of it imo.

Fairland also missed a lot of easy bunnies around the rim, and a wide open layup right before the half.

Defensively it appeared Fairland was switching everything and no real help side, and then switched up to straight man with no switches and got burned several times.

This is a great learning experience for Fairland, and they probably come back better for it. Congrats to the Dragons on a great year.

Northwest started 5 seniors and the only other player that played real minutes was a junior. They were all strong and skilled players, especially Bottomley, Cudnik and Kuhn. I don’t know if they can beat Purcell Marian, but they won’t be rattled by anything.

Fairland had a slight chance early in the 3rd, but besides the two layups from Russell, they couldn’t get shots to fall. Once they had to start doubling, Northwest was able to keep their cool and get layups.

Great season for the Dragons

The Dragons got thumped thats for sure but they sure did have a great season , I would expect them to be back to the Final Four next year.

Great season Fairland.

I don’t know much about enrollment numbers and divisions breakdown, but if Purcell Marian remains D2 the next 2 years, you get my drift. Unfortunate for a team like Fairland that has so much promise.

Those type schools can manipulate enrollment any way they want , and do. The state should really look into how some schools operate or create a tournament for only traditional public schools .

That's exactly right if the number of students will switch them in divisions they were not except any students or they will take students and that's facts
