some of Waverly's top players over the years (in no particular order)

Joe Hobbs - Keeper
Will Barlow - Forward
Corey Williamson - Mid
Clay Williamson - Mid
Luke Purpero - Forward
Phillip ? - Serb exchange - Forward
Dario Pirjiak - Croatian exchange - Forward
Luke Purpero - Forward
Skymr Bevins - Def.
Ben Rhoad - Def.
Issac Blanford - Mid\For

I would venture to say that all of these players have stood out above all others since Waverly's inception in the 96' season.

That is a good list of Waverly players!
I would add Joel Eversole to that list...I think he was often overlooked playing with Luke and Skymr, but he was a really good player! I saw him hit some amazing free kicks in his time with the Tigers!
I would also add another Williamson brother...CHRIS! :122249

A few others to throw in from Minford would be Alan Paolucci (sp?), Lobo Langdon, David Art....

alan paolucci was a good player as was Lobo Langdon, not sure I would throw David Art in that group, could include Jason and Justin Slone from the early years of Minford Soccer, I know Jason led team in scoring first year Minford had soccer with 17, his brother Justin played 4 years over 50 career goals and a ton of assist on Goodson's goals.

What about the Waverly Tiger defender with a school record for the most number of steels in a single season as a sophomore and four year varsity letterman? Do our Waverly posters know who he is? He was one of the main contributors to Two SOC wins.

That's a very good list, the Tigers were unstoppable from 85'-90'. They had some of the the toughest, hard-nosed players you could ever have (I think we proved that after the game vs. Minford...LOL) But many good players are on that list.

Good to see that Minford and Unioto are represented at the next level. Two of the players listed for Waverly made it to the next level, Hobbs and Purpero. Some of the Waverly players listed are playing at the YMCA. Blanford will go to the next level. Go Waverly Tigers.

I would have to disagree with some of the players listed before 95'. The game changed dramatically from about 95' on....we got away from what they called "Scioto County boot ball" and actually started playing the sport like the rest of the world. Some of the player achievements mentioned and most but not all of the players listed from Minford that are shown as "having went on to play college ball" played at Shawnee. The collective record of Shawnee from 85 until now probably doesnt reach over 25 wins in 20 years. None of those folks did anything signifigant in colleg, I think most of them were recrutied through the buddy system and not for pure talent. I thin k if you would really look and compare the players from 95' - probably 01' is probably your all star list and then another 15 or so from various schools between 01' and now. Goodson, Cyrus, and some of those folks around here who have these "big records" only have those because the competition was so poor locally then. I recognize and respect their accomplishments...but I think there is a point to be made there. They would have never accomplished from 95 through now. No disresepct, but I think if you stop and think you would probably have to agree.
