I heard last night that NA had a few guys out due to Red card and they should be back for Wednesday match at Northwest. And anyone at the match last night would probably agree, the big forward for NA should have gotten a red card last night for stomping on Minford defender after he scored the winning goal.
First of all the big forward never stomped on anyone!
And at most of the High School Soccer games I have watched this season the refs are the ones that create most of the cards by not keeping the players under control early on, they let it get out of hand then tensions rise and then they decide to hand out cards.
At the Northwest game, they would slide tackle straight on with cleats up at opposing players knee, tackled high from behind with arms up at shoulder blade height when ball was on the ground. Worse of all, parents cheered when this happened or saying he flopped. Even heard them talking about it being ok cause their boys won't get in trouble with their coach, which evidently had to be true since he kept putting them back in. If you play them, I would video tape it. Should have been 3 straight reds in that one.

The only reds that should have been given would've been to the boy from NW who kept intentionally throwing full body shots and knocking down our players, the ref pulled him aside and said something to him every time but no cards, then we get a yellow for a clean slide tackle.

Waverly was missing a senior midfielder/defender who was out with a concussion (although I hear he may be able kick in tonight's football game). But give Minford credit, they were better organized and disciplined.

Yes, the boy from NW does go shoulder to shoulder kind of hard. Shoulder to shoulder is ok. They called him out on it. In club and college they wouldn't even call most of those fouls. Shoulder and forearm to middle someones back is not ok, it is careless. Yellow card for the slide tackle should have been red, ref talked about it after the game. Did not want to go straight to red, most of refs do not want to disqualify players. Watching the video, it shows cleats up and exposed, knee high and straight on. Lucky he only got yellow. Those type of plays are careless. Heard through grapevine that NA's AD is considering taking discipline in own hands. Once again, way it sounded in stands, parents support this type of play. Please, take ref classes if you don't understand the Laws of the Game.

NA plays very physical. Playing physical and hard soccer is great, playing dirty isn't. It's a shame because NA has some quality players and a coach that knows the game. Really expected more class from them. Cudos to Northwest for keeping their heads, playing good soccer and winning the match.

Lynchburg was scheduled to play West Union yesterday. Was this a score from earlier in the week? Thanks!
