If he keeps his attitude in check, watching Basil should be a treat for southeastern Ohio soccer player. The kid has a lot of talent.

Basil a problem? Chillicothe has had a couple of players like any club that need to keep their attitude in check a little better, but Basil has never been on of them. Might be thinking of another player.

Basil gets targeted quite a bit by opponents because of the player he is, and still manages to keep his head about him.

Highly competitive yes, attitude no.

I played against him. I know who he is. Just because you happen to be from the same community, doesn't make him a saint. He's had his slip-ups but that doesn't make him any less of a player.

I have yet to see a player that hasn't made a mistake.

Chillicothe will do fine this year and as BuckNuts pointed out the future is bright.

Best of luck to CHS this season.

Bulldog21,

Basil is a top-notch player for our CAVS. He also is cool, calm and collective in his style of play. I guess that is why he helped our Cavalier Team defeat you Bulldogs huh :?:

Sounds like sour grapes to me.

GO CAVS :!:

Refuse to lose :!:

Go for the repeat this season for another SEOAL Title :!: :-D

You're beating a dead horse. I said Basil has attitude issues that need to be adjusted like 95% of the team. Talented players but they lack class and respect. Chillicothe has become NOTORIOUS for poor sportsmanship over the past few years. Quite frankly, I don't care about the Bulldogs soccer program. I don't attend Athens High School any longer and therefore I do not care what happens with their sports program. The Bulldogs could lose every game from here to eternity and I wouldn't sweat it.

Bulldog 21.... I am not sure how you could ever say that Basil lacks class and respect. I have had the opportunity to watch Basil play for many years on the top team in the State of Ohio and on Top ranked teams in the nation, and I can honestly say that I have never seen anything but class out of this kid on and off the field. He has always been very polite, shows great leadership, and a very talented player. Not sure what you have witnessed but sometimes other players need to show respect to receive respect. I see this often in High School games when a player demonstrates cheap shots over and over and a more talented player finally gives one back. They then label that kid as having an attitude when it is not attitude that is exhibited at all. He may just be used to playing at a level that his opponent never has and has to hold his own to make a point. I hope you understand what I mean about this but....... with some of the words that you used about Basil, I 'm not sure you will. I know he is on a club team that will be playing in the United States National Championship Series at Regional play in a few weeks, so this kid has earned respect in my book. I hope your words are not from jealousy. If I am wrong, I will eat my words but IMO....... I don't see how your posts holds any truth.

Good Luck Basil and Skrowronek....... You both are fine players that have worked very hard to earn every bit of recoginition that you do. Both of you played in the final games in State Cup as I watched from afar. Both of you are very skillfull and should excell this season and lead Chillicothe to many wins.

Bulldog you sound like a true team player - true to your school. Glad you aren't a CHS alum.

While I don't know Basil and Skowronek all that well I know that they come from good families and from what I have seen they play with class. That being said, I don't think I have seen a HS boys game that didn't have some testosterone exhibited.

Chillicothe traveled to Ankeney Fields in Beavercreek today to scrimmage Sydney High School, this was the first test of the season for the young Cavaliers. Final score was a 2-1 loss for the Cavs who showed very well against a very good side from Sydney. Chillicothe is certainly a very young team with a great upside, the young kids are only going to get better as the season progresses! Next action for the Cavs will be at home this Saturday as they take on the Bulldogs from Athens; JV scrimmage begins at 4:00 followed by the Varsity at approx 6:00. Chillicothe plays their home games at McVicker Field located at the Mt. Logan site on East Main Street. C'mon out and support the 08 Cavalier Boys Soccer Team!

Chillicothe Boy's Soccer Trivia anyone?

Consider the following Southeast District opponents of the Cavs...

Marietta, Unioto, Warren, Logan, Athens, Zanesville, Jackson, Gallia, Waverly, Circleville

Over the past 10 seasons (Coach McCorkle's term) Chillicothe has a losing record against just one of these schools.

Question #1: Which southeast district foe has got the best of Chillicothe over the last decade? (Keep in mind Chillicothe has not played any of these schools every year over the past 10 years)

Question#2: Which one of the above schools has Chillicothe never lost to, in tournament play or in regular season over the past 10 years? There can be more than one answer)

Question #3: When was the last Logan victory over Chillicothe on the soccer pitch?

#1. I'm pretty sure that the Unioto series is either 3-2 Unioto or 2-2, so in case there hasn't been 5 games, I'll say Warren. Warren has been very good since Chillicothe joined the SEOAL...possibly Marietta also.

#2. Gallia?

#3. 2003

I'll try my luck...

1) Warren
2) Waverly
3) 2000

answers??

Answer # 1 = Warren (Nice job) Chillicothe has only played Warren 5 times in the last 10 years, and all have been since 2005. Chillicothe is 1-4 against Warren over the past 3 seasons with Chillicothe's lone victory coming in the SEOAL Championship at Warren last year. Interestingly enough all 5 games have been decided by one goal.

Answer #2 = Circleville and Gallia. Chillicothe has also never lost to Miami Trace, Fairfield Union, Waverly, and Hillsboro over the last decade.

Answer # 3 = 2003; Logan scored a 2-1 victory at Mingo Park in Logan in the opening game of the season. Since then Chillicothe has gone 3-0-2 against the Chiefs.

A couple other little tidbits. Chillicothe has never played Zane Trace in a regular season game in the last 10 years. That should change as soon as ZT moves to D2. It won't be long. Chillicothe has also never played Wheelersburg during this time span.

Here are the records of the Chillicothe boy's against 15 Southeast District opponents over the last 10 years. Tournament games are included, and I only counted teams that Chillicothe has played at least twice. I researched it a little quick, but it should be quite accurate. Some may surprise a few people....

Chiilicothe Record vs. Opponent

Won/Lost/Tied

Alexander 4-1-0
Athens 6-4-1
Circleville 6-0-0
Fairfield Union 3-0-1
Gallia 3-0-0
Hillsboro 5-0-0
Jackson 4-1-1
Logan 3-1-2
Marietta 3-2-1
Miami Trace 3-0-0
South Webster 1-1-0
Unioto 2-2-0
Warren 1-4-0
Waverly 2-0-0
Zanesville 2-1-0

Not too shabby. There are not too many southeast dst teams that could post a winning record vs. Marietta over the last 10 years., if any. That's a combined 48-17-6 record. Chillicothe has won or tied approx. 76% of its games against these 15 opponents over the last 10 years.

Keep in mind that Chillicothe has been the bigger division school in many of these match-ups and were expected to win. (Not so much bigger anymore. In fact, Chillicothe will be smaller than or equal to in size with nearly every opponent on their schedule this year.)

I'll work on some more trivia for you Chillicothe Cavalier followers soon. (and everyone else that would like to join in)
