D3 Girls Tournament

Post by 4thgoal »

Here is what I believe to be the current records for each sectional. Obviously, many of the schools records are not up to date, but the best I could find on OSSCA or other scores reported. If anyone has better info, please let me know and I will update.

EAST Schools:
Alexander 4-5-1
Chesapeake 2-5-2
Fairland 2-7-1
Minford 6-6-1
South Point 3-4-1
Southeastern 8-3-3
St Joseph 7-5
Wheelersburg 8-1-2
Zane Trace 1-9

WEST Schools:
Eastern Brown 0-2?
Fairfield (Leesburg) 5-7
Lynchburg-Clay 6-1-1
North Adams 9-1-1
Northwest 3-7
Peebles 0-4?
Portsmouth West 1-9
West Union 0-12
Westfall 0-5

Are you kidding me?? St. Joseph 5th.?? We split with Wheelersburg, beat Minford in previews, and have not lost to anyone else in the OVC or SOC, or any other team in DIII. And you would have us a 5 seed???

Put yourself 8 so you play Wheelersburg first round

How would your list look? Who above SJ would move down in your opinion?

Hard to say exactly where I would have St. Joseph seeded, but no less than 3rd.The only reason it is hard to determine is because these schools don't report their scores.(Have no idea how good Alex is) But I do know we beat Minford & several of the schools that have beaten Minford. So definitely above them. I have seen in other posts where you guys talk about playing tougher competition. Well, St. Joseph played a real hard schedule this year. Athens, Ashland, KY., Cross Lanes, WV. Are we being penalized in your eyes because our record isn't as good as years past? Head to head, the only school to beat us is Wheelersburg, and we beat them once, too.

IMO, you can't even consider the result of the preview game against Minford. St Joe did play a tough schedule, but aside from the early season win against Wheelersburg, they lost all of those games. It was unfortunate that they were not able to play the game vs. North Adams before the draw. That would have been a good measuring stick to see where they were. A tie or win vs. North Adams would have solidified St Joe as a top 3-4 team to me.

Zane Trace is another that is difficult to figure out where they are. They are 1-9 and played a more difficult schedule than any other D3 SE district school. Do you give them some credit for taking on the difficult schedule and not getting blown out all the time or do you look at them as a 1 win team? It could be argued that they could be anywhere from a 6-9 seed.

Southeastern 3
West Union 1
Southeastern has a good record (9-3-3) I believe, but their strength of schedule isn't that good. Maybe I had them too high in my list...

I still go back to the fact that we have beaten several teams that beat Minford. Realize that previews are not good indicator, yet in that shortened game we had them 3-0. We played a tougher schedule and we have a better overall record. If you can't go on those numbers, then how do you decide the seedings?

I've seen Burg play all three. Don't know about southeastern, but Alexander and Minford are above St.Joe. St.Joe is good but they tire throughout the game and give up late goals.

They're on the other side of the bracket... they don't matter to st Joe's in any way. They won't vote on each other.

I understand that, but as far as st Joe's goes, north Adams doesn't matter.

I too saw their sos and my mouth was on the floor.

From 10/6
Columbus School for Girls 2
Zane Trace 1

Scores like this make me think that ZT is much better than their record shows.

Yes that result is odd. Only the 2nd game zt has scored in all year I think.
