Congratulations to all, however I’m somewhat confused on the girls side.
Loren Moran wins POY- much deserved, leads the league in goals and assist, no question
Defensive player of the year is a question mark in my book. Although Morgan Bivens is a great player and deserves the recognition, how does she get defensive player of the year when Waverly’s goalie has better stats?
Morgan Bivens - 9 shutouts and 76 saves with 21 goals against her
Anna Jordan - 8 shutouts 114 saves and 18 goals against her
Unless I’m missing something, I got these stats off max preps and oscca. If you are going to give the nod to Bivens, then I think Jordan should have gotten co-defender of the year. But congratulations to all players who were recognized

Well it's not just on stats. Waverly's goalie is good no doubt but Bivens is just better and I don't think you would get too much argument about that. Also I'm sure since they tied for the championship it just made it easy to split the awards between the teams. Both are well deserving of the awards.

Not going to argue that Bivens is good, but just curious why you think she is so much better then Jordan? I think they are very comparable, hence why I think they deserved co- defensive players of the year. Waverly and wheelersburg split their games this year with Waverly outscoring Wheelersburg 6-4, you can’t argue with the numbers. Again, I think Bivens is deserving just not more so then Jordan. But none of it matters in the end, congratulations to all the girls

Morgan Bivens finished her career with 40 career shutouts (10th all time in OHSAA history), 4 SOC championships, and 3 district championships. Lost 1 SOC game in 4 years in the net. I know that all doesn’t go into this season’s awards, but honestly who thought Wheelersburg would be in the SOC battle this year after losing about 90% of their offense to graduation. Having an experienced keeper in the net made that happen.

History can play a part in decisions. A career like Bivens has had placed her among the best in the State for her achievements. So congrats to selections.
