Individual HS Career Milestones

Post by Tri-StateYouthSports »

What are the notable milestones for HS soccer (goals, assists, saves)? For example, HS basketball is 1000 points, 500 rebounds and 250 assists.

Really the only thing people mention is when someone gets to 100 goals. Assists really aren't even mentioned that much (although the playmakers who set people up are the most important) and saves are way to subjective. Many people count keeper touches as saves and the numbers get way too inflated. If a keeper has more than 150 saves in a year, it basically means their defense wasn't that good and the keeper touched the ball way more than they should have. A better metric for keepers would be shutouts, but at the same time this could also mean you had a solid defense in front of you that either forced shots off frame or blocked them at the point of contact.

I think career starts say a lot about a player. But soccer is very goal oriented. But assists are key numbers IMO.
