I saw a South Webster U15? boys team in a tournament hold their own in a Charleston Club tournament against clubs from Maryland and North Carolina. There's a bright future with that group! I wish the Washington County schools would start Jr High soccer.

That was us. Actually jr high soccer with the schools through OHSAA limits opportunities for kids in southeast ohio. If we were school sanctioned we wouldnt be able to have those opportunities as a program. Club opportunities dont really have a hold of southeast ohio like they do in the big C’s.
What type of play does Washington county (marietta?) have?

Washington County's soccer community is mostly a shared community with Parkersburg and Williamstown WV. There are plenty of rec soccer opportunities through U15, including indoor leagues. The leagues sometimes do well coordinating, sometimes don't. The schools don't offer much support for any of the youth programs, and there's basically no municipal support.

The Club organization is too splintered in my opinion—only a small handful of non-parent coaches. The most competitive club in the area is Club Ohio United out of Marietta, then there's RVSC in Parkersburg and routine pop-ups after that like the Ohio Valley Vipers and Belpre Fireballs. Club Ohio United is the only one that consistently has 11v11 teams. The more competitive Club Ohio United teams are part of leagues in Central Ohio and travel up there on the weekends, some others are in the Shawnee League based out of Charleston. Mostly they just travel to four tournaments a season in Columbus, Dayton Area, Cincinnati and Charleston.

I've been involved for a bit more than a decade now, and I get the arguments in favor of the Club route for middle school ages vs moving to official school programs, but it's just too unreliable. Costs and Sunday participation really make travel soccer inaccessible for a lot of families. There are enough middle school programs to play against, and if Warren and Marietta started middle school, I bet the Wood County (Parkersburg WV) schools would follow suit. Then there'd be no issue carrying a full schedule.

Muskingum County has a solid set-up, in my opinion. Zanesville Arsenal SC is the local club with a boys & girls team in almost each age group, but 11v11 teams(U13 & up) only play a spring schedule. This allows the local middle-schools to not have to compete with the fall club season.

Which schools up there in Muskingum County play middle school soccer?
