Sounds like we are setting up for an epic showdown between Waverly and Wheelersburg once again! Both teams are solid and will be interesting to see how this one turns out. I believe the first meeting is at Burg. The talent is there for both schools, multiple weapons on both sides...let's see who comes to play!

Waverly's had a real nice run in league play the last few years. Looks like they're in a real dog fight to stay on top this season. Probably have to consider Burg the favorite at this point.

South Webster has a nice team also. But how about West!? They beat Burg in one set and took Waverly to five! And then there's Northwest. They beat West 3-1 and outscored Valley 50-0! Just how good is Northwest??

One thing for sure: Going to be lots of exciting matches this season in the SOC 2. And it seems like several teams are stronger than they've been in the past.

Yeah, northwest may be the sleeper team that slides in that top spot! Burg seems to have what they need to make the run talent wise ...just curious to see if that talents gets assembled to their advantage. Waverly has been on top as of late and knows what it takes...but northwest and burgs talent pool have caught up finally...it's just a matter of who bring their A-game when it counts and doesn't fold under the pressure.

The coach at valley has run off several girls in the last few years. They have no seniors and only 7-8 girls on the varsity team. All juniors and 2 freshman. None of the seniors came out this year because of the coach and several younger players quit playing due to the coach.

You don't get ran off ... If you you don't want to play you quit if you want to get
Better you stay around .... The coach has played the game in college .. However
Sometimes that doesn't translate into being a teaching coach ... By
The time the girls get to high school they should have the basics down ... But they are not getting very good basics at the jr high level ...volleyball ain't what it used to be ...there are some very coaches in southeast ohio ... With 2 having just retired Janet day (eastern) and Laura smith (Adena ) and girls are playing club ball through the spring ... And if you get behind ...well then it's tough ... And right now valley is behind ... But the girls are athletic enough to learn

Like I said it's anyone's title for the taking and on any given night, well you know how it goes.

getitover I agree if you want to get better you stick around but when the coach is playing favorites/friends instead of the better players that is an issue. Why work hard to get better when you won't get the chance to play. One of the seniors that didn't come out plays club ball during the summer and was a starter. No matter how many mistakes the favs make they never get taken out. Well I guess this year it doesn't matter due to the low numbers on the varsity

Sounds like the SOC race may come down to Northwest vs . Burg...although the Pirates still have to face Waverly. This should be fun to watch over the next few weeks.

Congrats to Northwest they are very good. Here are the scores vs Waverly.

31-30 20-25 25-23 25-20

Not sure about the first set, I thought you had to win by two. But that was the score listed on WKKJ. Lots of volleyball to play, it should be interesting.

Wheelersburg beats Waverly in 4 tonight at Burg. Pirates remain unbeaten on the season, but now start the second half of their schedule. Can they hold it together and keep playing like they have been ??? We will see...
