Eastern Pike is the best volleyball team I have seen all year. They would have won ANY other conference title in southern Ohio with no problem. They have a balanced hitting attack, they play good defense and they serve very well. Should be an interesting match Friday against Kidron, which I wouldn't be suprised if they win. Could be a tougher time if they face Marion Local in finals.. Good luck Eagles!!!!

Unbelievable season! Congrats on everything throughout.

A lot of people probably want that team to win it all but being up 2-1 and how tight the 5th game was....I might prefer for them to lose in 3 games about 25-19....because them winning it all might be a hard to swallow.

I hope Kidron destroys their opponent so that everyone knows today was the real State Championship game! Fantastic job girls! Thanks for representing Southern Ohio, District 14 and the SOC in such an honorable way. Great players, great consistency, great sportsmanship simply a great team!

I would have one criticism to the way it was said. Hoping another team gets "destroyed" does not seem like good sportsmanship!

Point well taken, my apologies. The comment was not meant that way but I see your take as well.

Maria Stein Marion Local beat Kidron Central Christian For Div. IV championship 25-20 ,25-22, 25-18.

Now if they can form a new nucleus and some leaders on the court, they can be just as dangerous next season.

Congrats to Eastern on a great 27-1 season! No team lost none in the state as the four state champs went 23-6, 27-2, 29-1, 26-3. The D4 winner and the D3 winner, my alma mater weren't really challenged that hard thru the tourney. Miami East won all contests in three sets and repeated their 2011 championship, while Marion Local only went four once, in the district final. The 3 other state tourney seni-finalists in D4 were pretty even with each other as the two that played Marion Local lost 75-60 and 80-67 in total score, while the two that played each other went five sets with the total being 109-106, with the 106 winning three sets.
