I"d say the score will be closer to 2007. I don't see either team getting blown out. It should be a nice close game.
Re: Southern vs. Newark Catholic Rd. 3
Good Luck to the boys in Purple and Gold. Hope these two teams bring a crowd like years past...truely a great atmosphere!!

The Green Wave have played such a hard non-league schedule coupled with playing in a tough league that their record might lead some to overlook them.
This team is well prepared for anything they will see in the tourney.

It's a great place for the kids to play and for us to watch a game.

I don't think anybody from Southern is going to overlook the Green Wave. We know you have a great baseball program.

Re: Southern vs. Newark Catholic Rd. 3
Its just sad that we have to play schools in a tournamenet that should be for regular schools and not schools that RECRUIT! Everyone knows that with all the money in the Nerk Cath community that they buy off officials and guarantee that their kids win. Then they get on here and boast about Catholic superiority. Yet another State Title snatched away from us down here on the river .....RATZ!

Here are a couple of FACTs about NC team. I copied them from jjhuddle because I couldn't say it any better.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
NC appreciatesthe kind words about our work ethic, discipline, & coaches. However, below will let you know where we GET THE KIDS WE WANT: (This was posted on another thread)
Miles Richardson (sr)- 12 yrs NC system, dad graduated, G-pa coached basketball there a few years.
Matt Lewis (sr) - 12 yrs NC system as well as 3 siblings.
Chris Liebold (sr)- 12 yrs catholic schools, brother at NC, 3 older siblings graduates.
Kevin Cox (jr) - 11 yrs NC system, older sister graduate, younger brother at St. Francis.
Nate Adams (jr) - 7 yrs NC system (relocated from Connecticut), older brother graduate, mom graduate, many cousins, aunts, uncles graduates.
Andy Vernou (sr) - 12 yrs NC system, dad graduate w/ many aunts, uncles cousins all going thru NC system. Both sets of grandparents major players in keeping NC afloat all of these yeats. G-pa Don is an icon in the NC community.
Garrett Clark (sr) - 12 yrs in NC system, sister at NC, cousins at or graduated from NC.
Sam Corl (sr) - 12 yrs system. Siblings, aunts, uncles, cousins at or graduated thru NC system. Uncle graduated & used to coach football.
Xavier Cook (jr) - 11 yrs in NC system, mom a graduate
Cody Potts (sr) - came to NC in Jr high, brother thru St. Francis & freshman at NC
Mike Lewis (so) - 10 yrs & see brother Matt above.
Jimmy Lough (fr) - 9 yrs in NC system.
Derek Adam - (jr) - came as freshman from the Danville school system. 3 younger siblings either at NC/St. Francis, or will be starting.
Tony Guinta (jr) - 11 yrs in the NC system.
How about the coaches?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!
Head Coach John Cannizzaro - NC garduate as well as siblings including his brother & coach Rick (Brother Rick!!!). Has coached at NC a total of 15 yrs.
Assts: Danny Mummey - graduate thru NC system as his siblings & mom. His g-pa was a graduate of the old St. Francis HS before NC opened & served as AD. Younger kids at St. Francis (see the bat boys)
Doug Stevens - graduate as his siblings thru 12 yrs NC system.
Tom Haycook - graduate, his son graduated thru 12 yrs NC system & played baseball.
Dave Riley - graduate & put his kids thru 12 yrs at NC
Dan Elwell - graduate, uncle to Vernou, younger kids at St.Francis
Chris Grieb - graduate as 3 siblings
------------------------------------------------------------
It is amazing that NC can recruit these young men 12 years in advance, and in some cases 2 or 3 generations in advance of their senior year in high school! Honestly, student-athletes are transferring to all types of schools, both private and public alike, for both athletic and scholastic reasons. The people who lash out at NC or any other school are simply jealous and ignorant, so they feel compelled to make statements without regard to the truth. In this particular case, it is hard to imagine any team having been together longer from the start of elementary school through high school.

Re: Southern vs. Newark Catholic Rd. 3
Let me give you the 411 purple and yellow pride is not from Southern. We have people from other schools get on here all the time and try to stir stuff up.If you read their post they are trying to throw a dig at Southern also. They are jealous that they don't go anywhere,so this is what they do try and stir stuff up.We don't think the game was poorly called. We just got beat. Good luck to the Green Wave the rest of the way.
