My point is it is easier to be a "playmaker" against the teams like Oak Hill than Hamilton Badin...at this point you play one out at a time, one pitch at time, and "little" things like hitting cutoff men, executing bunts, and making the routine play is what makes the difference...Coach Estep and his staff have won over 100 hundred games the past four years alone ...his entire staff has played a lot of high caliber baseball themselves... they have been there done it and done it well so I think they know what they are doing ...no need to question anyone especially when you just beat a tough Hamilton Badin team and are playing for the state championship. Good Luck Burg!

I agree. One thing I will never do is question Coach Esteps baseball knowledge and what to do in certain situations. I believe the mans track record speaks for itself.

Good luck Pirates. I may not be able to be there in body but you can bet your rearend I'll be sitting at my fathers watching the game on ONN and cheering like a madman. .

Good luck to the Burg. Am I correct in saying that if Wheelersburg wins, there will be a father-son combo that would have both won State titles in baseball? Hint. One occured in 1972

One thing to keep in mind as we all travel back and forth from Columbus is for everyone to be safe and everyone come home in one piece. Last night, God was with some fellow Burg kids traveling home. At about 11p.m. a car with Burg students wrecked in Lucasville at the intersection. Car pulled out in front of them and they hit head on totaling both cars. Burg driver was hurt a little, one I hear has a foot in a cast, and the other one in the backseat walked with some bumps and bruises. All three spent the night at the hospital being checked out..the other driver was ok. It WANS'T the Burg students fault. God was with them..I know this was scary for them and those who saw the wreck coming home.

Please everyone travel safely and drive the speed limit! Go Burg..bring home the state title!

Good luck burg, hopefully you can bring home the state championship.

Also if anyone is sticking around to watch the other championships; Local umpire Lou Bennett will be umpiring the Div. II championship at 7PM.

Too bad this couldn't have been a year earlier. Burg would have had a scioto county umpiring crew on the game. Last year Rick Merb, Brent Munn, and Rusty Hopkins did the Div. III championship.

Guy behind plate is inconsistent on strikes, probably going to cost someone a run or two.

Rain delay. They say it's raining really hard with lots of lightning and wind.

What stinks is that ONN will switch to the CREW game at 8:30, so I hope it does not drag on that long.

Clearfork is a hitting team with a .412 batting average as a team. They used the bats in the first inning to post three hits but a timely out at home plate and a strike out got the Pirates out of the inning. Wheelersburg twice hit the ball hard in their half of the inning but both went right to the centerfielder for easy outs.

BTW--The tarp is still on the field but they did pull the pegs. It is still drizzling.

Ground crew is now looking at the field but has not removed the tarp.
