Official District 8 American legion topic

Post by 93Bulldog »

Would love for everyone to keep tabs and post info on all the teams in district 8 this year.

Question 1) How about players for Meigs and Athens - who is playing? Who isn't that maybe should have?

Question 2) Can any of the teams south of Logan knock off Lancaster or Pickerington this year?

I'm curious to know the roster for Meigs ... So many good players this year in Meigs county - they have to be a descent team even if all the kids don't go out.

If you threw together a pitching staff of GILKEY, MEYERS, TAYLOR, RAMTHUN, PAPE, DRUMMER, SHOOK & BRANNON - that is a really solid staff for American Legion ball!

Just in the numbers that they have to choose from, Im guessing the answer to number two is no

We do struggle versus the 'big boys' - but it is possible ... In 1990 Athens not only won the district - but the state championship as well ... My team in 1993 beat Lancaster twice on Saturday to advance to the state tournament ... There has been other teams as well, you just need a 'lights out pitcher' when you face Pick or lancaster in the tournament. (ala Tyler Thompson a few years back.)

Meigs did beat lancaster last year but lost in tournament. Pickerington on the other hand is just very very solid. We will see this year I think Meigs will field a strong team.

I'm kind of excited to see the game June 7th between Meigs and Athens ... You could see the TVC-Hocking defensive player of the year (Ryan Taylor) pitching to the Hocking offensive player of the year (Chesser) - and the TVC-Ohio offensive player of the year (Chris Ford) - in back-to-back at-bats ... That's pretty cool.

It would have been even better to see the TVC-Ohio defensive player of the year (Zach Weffler) pitching to the other co-offensive player of the year (Zach Sayre) when P21 was in the field - but I guess Weffler didn't want to play this summer.

Still ... lots of great players from the TVC will be on the field Thursday.

I don't know yet big_al ... Finding info on Post 21 can be tricky sometimes, our local papers don't really cover them at all.

The Meigs roster is very interesting ... Its missing the TVC-Ohio offensive player of the year? Zach Sayer? The Marauders No. 1 pitcher, Taylor Gilkey?

What about Roseberry, Carnahan, Amsbary?

Picknig up Roush was cool, I didn't know kids across the river could play.

Thanks I did see that but it only shows the league record and not overall. I know they played a double header at Circleville but can't find the results. Hopefully they will update their website and schedule with results soon. Thanks again.

Athens defeated Meigs 5-3 on Thursday then downed Logan 22-5 in 6 1-2 innings tonight (Friday). Both games were at home (Rannow Field).

With 8 players on the roster from Athens I don't understand why this team don't win more. Athens is the class of the TVC and with Federal, Trimble, Alex and nelsonville playerws this is the TVC powerhouse. They've only beat another TVC team in Meigs and then Logan which everyone beats. Lets go P21.
