Legion ball is TOTALLY different than high school baseball greatone ... Once the age limit became 19, the landscape changed drasitcally ... (i.e.) Pickerington, who is a member of the 8th district, has 9 players back from college to play for Post 283.

Athens has 0 players - they are all high school players and a lot of them are underclassmen at that.

Also, getting all the players to play from the area hasn't been easy ... The TVC-Ohio defensive player of the year (Zach Weffler) didn't play ... The Bulldogs No. 3 hitter and all league/all district selection (Jacob Schriner) isn't playing ... Seven other ALL LEAGUE players from Athens county didn't play.

Post 21 has lost to PICKERINGTON, CIRCLEVILLE x2, PARKERSBURG x2 ... The panic buttom should not be hit just yet, those are three pretty darn good teams - and 3-of-the-5 losses could have went either way.

the P21 boys have been in every game they have played. Even the pickerington game was 2-0 into the 6th inning. the parkersburg team is now 7 and 0 and frankly we gave away both games with mistakes that wont happen once the boys get used to playing together. Keep in mind we had 1 practice before the season started due to teams still being in the tourney. I am proud of the way the boys are playing hard every game and they will put it together. thanks 93 for the support. saturday against pburg we hit the ball hard all over the field, it just seemed like we hit it right at them or they made some great plays. We could have won either game if we could have eliminated the mistakes I mentioned earlier and we were playing without a key player who was playing in the Mizuno game. There are good thing to come from these young men!

P21 is rather young but has good talent. They will be fine. Coach Chesser will bring them together.

not that it really matters, but just to clear up speculation, The pickerington roster consists of 18 players. 4 played college last year, 8 were HS Seniors, and 6 were HS Juniors. Now, out of the 8 seniors, I think 6 of them are signed to play college next year. If not mistaken, the little lefty that pitched against Athens Post was one of the Juniors.

Athens Post is a good team and they will be fine and should create alot of problems for all teams as they continue to gel together.

thx for clarifying that generalwatcher. I was only going off 'secondary' information from a P21 parent.

tomcatdad ... Is Athens record (4-6), (2-2)?

That's what I have after the Waverly wins?

93 that is correct, however we fell to lancaster 7 to 4 tonight. gave up a 6 run 2nd inning and just couldnt quite dig our way out. hit the ball ball hard but lancaster flashed the leather tonight. we also had some great plays....

Best wishes to Post 21 tonight vs. Pickerington. Tonight's game will be only my second opportunity to have gotten to see the team play this summer. A great effort and win this evening could be a nice turning point for the team.

Being trapped inside those rolling hills, where the Meigs field is located, doesn't sound very fun when its 94 degrees and humid!

"Death Valley" would make a great nickname for that venue this time of year ...

Why, with so many Southern players, don't they use the field on the river for some games?
