Former Athens catcher Scott Stricklin
Strickland, who played for Athens in 1987, 1988, 1989 & 1990, is the head baseball coach at Kent State. On Monday, the Golden Flashes knocked off Oregon 3-2 to advance to the 2012 College World Series in Omaha ... What an unbelievable achievement for one of our own local players from here in southeastern Ohio!

It would be intresting to know how many titles/championships the two of you have combined BulldogCoach2012 ... I know its a lot - and they have stretched all the way from Tampa Florida to Eugene Oregon ... League titles, district titles, state titles, regional titles, world series champions (1987), MAC championships ... The list goes on and on ... Million dollar question: Did you teach Strickland everything he knows BulldogCoach2012?

Congrats to kent and coach Strickland. OSU passed on him two yrs ago. Honestly, big mistake. Now he will prob go to an arch enemy of OSU and shove it down their throat.
Good luck to the flashes in CWS.

After calling him 'Strick' all my life - one can forget the 2nd part of a name rather quickly ...
Thx G.W.

Kent beats # 1 Florida, 5-4. Great to see a local kid like Scott be successful on the national level!!

Coach, do you think some *you-know-whats* got a little tight during the 9th inning last night? Two different pitchers and 11 pitches before throwing a single strike! Can't imagine the amount of pressure being felt there. The check swing ring-up on strike three was huge.

Count me in on the "you-know-what's" getting tight last night ... I was nervous as hell just sitting in front of the tube a time zone away!diamondD1 wrote:Coach, do you think some *you-know-whats* got a little tight during the 9th inning last night? Scott Stricklin.....the only catcher at any level to throw me out stealing a base....and it wasn't close.
My soph year at Athens I gave up 5 hits....Stricklin had 3 going 3/3.
