The Logan Chieftans JV visited The Athens Bulldogs JV Wednesday Night at Rannow field in the Plains...Dean Maffin threw a complete-game one-hitter for the JV DOGS as he struck out six, walked five and hit three. Maffin struggle early but found his groove and dominated from the fourth inning on. Logan started Burrell on the hill as he pitched 3 and 1/3 innings and he held Athens in check for the first three innings. A long fourth was the decider as he was pulled after an Athens rally. Cook replaced Burrell on the mound and finished for the Chieftans.
Logan jumped out early scoring 2 in the first and 2 in the third to hold a (4-0) lead going into the bottom of the fourth. Athens then came to life, scoring 8 of their 9 runs in the fourth. Dean Maffin delievered two big hits in the fourth collecting 3 RBI as he came to the plate twice. Shad McCollum also delievered a huge hit collecting 2 RBI in the inning as well. Athens had two fielding errors and Logan had one. The JV DOGS were aided by several key outstanding fielding plays by Short-Stop Trey Harris.
