Wheelersburg at Ironton 4/8/08

Post by BULDOG »

Wheelersburg travels to Ironton to face the Tigers today at 5pm.

Look for Wamsley to take the hill for the Pirates. Should be a good matchup between these 2 teams.

So are we playing down by the plant? If so, I have not been there in probably close to 20 years. How exactly do I get to the field?

Catch, if I am not mistaken take the Franklin Furnace exit past Green High school, old 23. Follow old 23 up to the Dow plant entrance and go in there. If this is not correct would someone please let us know ASAP.

I was told it was the 2nd entrance. Past the main entrance on the left.

Solid offensive outing after struggling against Waverly the day before. All this team needs is consistent at bats day in and day out to be on top of their game. A very potent bunch when the bats are clicking.

Last night saw Wes Lyons lead off the 1st with a HR to CF putting Burg up 1-0. After a Wamsley walk, Hopper drove a fastball deep over the CF fence scoring Wamsley making it 3-0 after 1. Burg would extend their lead to 6-0 after 2. Can't remember the inning 2nd or 3rd but Wamsley put his 5th over the LF fence plating 2. Burg went on to extend the lead to 10-0 after 4 and 12-1 to end it in 5. Burg offense put together several solid base hits, several that Ironton made nice plays on for outs. I know Spencer Hall had 2 solid hit balls and Ironton just made the plays.

Andrew Elliott had a solid performance on the hill pitching a complete game giving up 1 run on only a couple hits to pickup the win. Nice to get this distance out of a pitcher this early especially with 6 games in 6 days on the schedule.

Wamsley has now hit a HR in all but 1 regular season game this season. I believe he finished 3-3 with a walk on the day and has to be hitting near or above .700 on the season.

Onto to West this evening if the weather holds.

The Pirate bats were on fire last night again all through the lineup. Spencer Hall absolutely scorched two balls but were right at the RF and SS.
