Gallipolis edges Meigs, 4-3

With the bases loaded and one out, freshman Caleb Warnimont scored from third base on a grounder towards second base by Cody Noble to give host Gallipolis a 4-3 non-league victory over visiting Meigs on Memorial Field Tuesday evening.

The victory left Gallipolis 11-6 on the year. Meigs dropped to 11-6.

Gallipolis travels to Pt. Pleasant Wednesday for a non-league battle with the Big Black Knights.

Thursday, the Blue Devils host first place Southeastern Ohio Athletic League Southern Division Jackson in a makeup contest on Memorial Field and Friday, GAHS will travel to Portsmouth for another SEOAL contest.

Shawn Thompson went the distance for Gallipolis. Delong went the distance for Meigs in the pitcher’s dual.

Gallipolis took a 2-0 lead in the first. Meigs scored one in the second but the Blue Devils went up 3-1 after three.

The Marauders cut it to 3-2 in the fourth and tied it up 3-3 after six. MHS threatened in the top of the seventh, but left two runners on base.

The contest was played in 1:45 with temperatures in the 50s.
