The Red Hot Athens JV traveled to Meigs for a Saturday Double-Header and managed to leave with 2 victories...

This game was a pitcher duel. Trey Harris of Athens was eager to get back on the hill after earing his first Win just the night before in a relief effort against Logan. Meigs sent Stewart to the hill and the lefty had some good stuff. Which team wanted it more...Harris went the distance earning the WIN limiting MEIGS JV to only 4 hits, 3 walks and 3 runs as he dominated the strikeout category with 14 K's. Stewart who suffered the loss also went the diastance. He allowed 8 hits, 4 walks and 5 runs as he struck out 3.

1st Inning-
Andrew Zoulek lead off with a walk, and then stole 2nd. Trey Harris would then try to lay a sacrifice bunt but popped the pitch right back to Meigs Pitcher Stewart. Zoulek would then score on a Curtis Goldsberry deep single to left center. Noftz would ground out to end the threat.
In the bottom half, Athens Pitcher Trey Harris shut down the JV Maruaders 1-2-3. (Athens lead 1-0)

2nd Inning-
Robbie Gerren would reach on an error but be forced out at second on a fielder's choice. A flyout by Kelder and K of Coffman would end the Athens inning.
In the bottom half, Harris would K McCarty and McKinney, then walk Stewart before getting Hood to fly out to 1st. (Athens lead 1-0)

3rd Inning-
After a leadoff strikeout and then flyout to deep left Athens would rally. Back to back singles by Harris and Goldsberry would be the ignitor. Harris would score on a infield fly single that would land behind the pitcher's mound that was hit by colton Noftz. Stewart a little shook after the single landed in would bean Gerren with the next pitch. However he would end the Athens threat getting Deal to flyout to deep center.
In the bottom half, Harris would K Young and Powell to lead off. Then a HBP to Whitlach and Walk to Meadows would get Meigs runners on. A single by Hysell would load the bases. But Harris would dig deep down and K clean-up hitter McCarty to end the Meigs JV threat. (Athens lead 2-0)

4th Inning-
Stephen Kelder would reach via a walk. He would move on a Coffman infield ground out. Frampton would then ground out to short but would move Kelder to 3rd on the play. Enter Andrew Zoulek. Zoulek would deliever a huge shot down the left field line that would roll all the way to the fence and would score Kelder as Zoulek would record a Triple. Stewart would leave Zoulek stranded getting Harris to flyout to 2nd.
In the bottom half, Meigs would strike. A leadoff walk to McKinney would get the ball rolling. He would steal 2nd. A bunt single by Stewart would move McKinney to 3rd. Stewart would attempt to steal 2nd early as Harris stepped off and threw to Deal at short. However instead of getting the out, Deal would throw home to try to get the out at home and threw it away. Stewart would advance to 3rd. Hood would then lay a bunt single himself to score Stewart. Then Harris would K Young and Powell . An error at 3rd would extend the inning but Harris would K Meadows to escape. (Athens lead 3-2)

5th Inning-
Goldsberry would get things off drillin' a single at 3rd that was knocked down but allowed him to reach. He would advance to 2nd on a Colton Noftz sacrifice bunt and then steal 3rd. Gerren would then get Hit to reach. Gerren then would steal 2nd to get into scoring postion. Kevin Deal would then answer with a double to deep left to score both Goldsberry & Gerren. Stewart would end the threat getting the next two batters to flyout.
In the bottom half, with an 0-2 count, Hysell would send a Harris fastball over the fence for a solo shot. Harris would rebound, showing heart to get the next 3 batters out via a flyout, groundout and K. (Athens lead 5-3)

6th Inning-
Athens would be shutout, as Stewart would get a K, groundout and flyout.
Harris would get the 1st 2 batters out via K and flyout, but an error would allow Powell to reach. Harris would shrug his sholders, baredown and get Whitlach to K to end the inning. (Athens lead 5-3)

7th Inning-
Goldsberry would single to right to start. an error later would allow Noftz to reach but Goldsberry would get caught jogging into 3rd and would be called out. Noftz then would be forced out on a fielders choice on a ball hit by Gerren. Stewart would then get Deal to flyout.
In the bottom half, Harris would get Meadows to K to leadoff. Hysell then would reach via an error. McCarthy then would go down on strikes. Out number 2. Harris would get McKinney to fly out to Deal to end the game. (ATHENS WINS GAME ONE 5-3)
