Chilly 11 Portsmouth 10 in 9 innings

Post by OZZIEOHIO »

Dowg just called and gave me the score. He said they had to wait a half hour to finish the game, because a wind storm rolled thru.

Actually it was in 9 innings , another wild one between these 2 teams. Chilly was ahead 7-3 going to the 7th . Trojans scored 5 runs to go up 8-7 . The last 3 on a popup that RF lost in lights w/2 outs. Chilly tied it in the bottom . Portsmouth scored 2 in the eighth , Chilly matched it on a passed ball and a bad exchange between pitcher and catcher on the same play (2 runs scored). Portsmouth didn't score in 9th and Dawes then hit a one out triple . With the infield in, Speakman hit a grounder to SS who looked Dawes back and threw to first. Dawes broke for home as soon as SS went to first and beat the throw. All 3 games between these 2 rivals were crazy and entertaining .

Sounds like a great game. Who pitched for the Cavs?

Dixon started but couldn't close the deal . Webb then came in and pitched the rest of game for Cavs.
