Can Marietta pull the upset? Jackson is tough this year. Any Comments or Predictions?

With Brockmeier pitching, he will give Marietta a chance. He is a fierce competitor. If they play solid defense and can manufacture some runs you never know. Jackson is clearly the favorite though.

That is THE question that almost all high school coaches are trying to answer right now. Most teams don't have that 2nd go to guy. Do you save your ace for a later matchup? I've seen it back fire with the ace not on the hill and a favored team loses. Got to win today, then worry about tomorrow.

In one game tournament scenarios

If you can throw your ace, you have to throw him.
You can't assume a victory and play for game two.
Play to win the game you are in, and hope others step up in the following game.

Final score: Marietta 3, Jackson 0

Marietta scores all three in top of 7th and Evan Brockmeier limits Jackson to only one hit while the Ironmen make four errors, including two in the seventh.

Wow. Nice pitching effort by Brockmeier. Jackson has been hitting the ball well all year long, but Brockmeier must have been amazing tonight.

Tough loss for the Ironmen, but still a great season. SEOAL Champs and a great turnaround from last year's struggles...keep your heads up, Ironmen!

Congrats to the Tigers... as Coach Thrash said in the paper, he was still waiting to see his team play their best game... perhaps that came tonight.

Go Tigers!
