Big win for Jackson. Their athletic program has struggled somewhat over the past few years. Excellent season for the Ironmen.

South picks up another W today.

Looks like the South hitters are for real. Gallia outhit Warren but the Warriors kept catching the ball at the fence.

Another site reports Portsmouth 5 - Marietta 3. That's 3 out of 4 so far for the South.

Most of these are listed, but

Jackson 9, Zanesville 7 at Zanesville

Warren 6, Gallipolis 5 at Warren

Chillicothe 6, Athens 5 at Athens

Portsmouth 5, Marietta 3 at Marietta

Logan 4, Ironton 3 at Logan

As a I noted on another thread, it was South 3, North 2 but any of the five games could have gone the other way .. good competition all the way around

Congratulations to the winners, but the losers shouldn't hang their heads low....

Chillicothe 030 012 0 — 6 6 0

Athens 200 300 0 — 5 10 1

Aaron Dixon, Cody Speakman (4) and Seth Dawes

Steven Eberts, Dean Maffin (5), Jared Cline (7) and Kyle Dean

W — Cody Speakman; L — Dean Maffin

HR: Derrick Webb, Chillicothe, 2nd, one on

Some things I got right:

NORTH
Predicted Warren (2nd), Marietta (4th), Logan (5th)
Predicted Marietta (4-8)
Predicted Warren over Gallia in DOC Game...

SOUTH
Predicted Gallia (2nd), Chillicothe (3rd)
Predicted Gallia (8-4)

Some things I got wrong:

NORTH
Predicted Athens (1st), Zanesville (3rd)
Predicted Zanesville (7-5) they went (10-0)

SOUTH
Predicted Portsmouth (1st), Ironton (4th), Jackson (5th)
Predicted Jackson (2-10), they went (10-2)

I MUST SAY JACKSON, I OWE YOU A CONGRATS...
I WAS DEAD WRONG, AND YOU PROVED HEAD STRONG...

CONGRATS to the 2008 SEOAL CHAMPIONS -- THE JACKSON IRONMEN

Could someone explain to me how Zanesville lost to Jackson. I thought Zanesville was one of the best teams in the state. I thought if Jackson had been in the North they would be winless.

I talked to a Jackson assistant coach today. Told me Z-Ville was no-hitting Jackson through 4 innings and were trailing 7-0. The Ironmen did not give up and had a strong finish including a Grand Slam that gave them some big momentum.

Congrats to Jackson on their SEOAL Championship.

Jackson has a lot a fire power this year and every once in awhile the pitching went with the offense. Jackson's hitting and pitching popped up at the same time in the DOC game.

I read a summary of the Jackson-Zanesville game on here somewhere...

Coyan pitched for Jackson, but struggled early. The coaching staff stuck with him though. He helped his own cause by hitting his 10th homerun of the season, a grand slam, to cut the lead to 7-4. Jackson would eventually take a 9-7 lead and Coyan went the distance on the mound, keeping Zanesville hitless in the last couple innings to preserve the win. The Ironmen really showed a lot of heart and made some big plays when they needed them. On the road, down 7 runs to a team that was previously undefeated in SEOAL play, and they come back to win...very impressive.
