:-D The Middleport Yellow Jackets won the 1957 Class "B" State Title when they beat Doylestown in the final game in Columbus. They were from the SEOAL before consolidating with Pomeroy and Rutland to form Meigs during the 1966 - 1967 school year.

If I remember correctly, Tommy Spencer was a star for GAHS back in the late 60's on some of those teams(three sport I believe) and went on to play pro baseball for various teams and later on became a coach? I'm also surprised they only have 2 co-championships in the last 40 years.

The last sporting event ever in the history of the Nelsonville Greyhounds was winning a State Championship! How cool is that? Going out with a bang! :-D

Wellston was co-champion of the Ohio division in 2007-its last conference championship, they have won many and they made it to the state final championship game 1985 losing to Bellvue 3 - 2 in the Final.

Meigs went to the final four in the state a couple of times in division 2. Also has won several TVC Ohio titles. In one of those state games I think they got beat 1 - 0 and both pitchers had no hitters.

Middleport (Before consolidation to form Meigs) - 1930 and 1931 (Final four), 1950 (2nd), 1957 (1st)
Pomeroy (Before consolidation to form Meigs) - 1934 and 1935 (Final four), 1933 (2nd)
Meigs 1976 and 1996 (Final four)

In the 1976 game, Jeff Mckinney who was one of my best friends from playing pitch and catch all the time at his house from after school till dark while we were growing up did pitch a no-hitter against Elida and lost, then Elida proceeded to win the championship the next game. I was in the Marine Corps at the time but knowing Jeff I'm sure that it was and still is a bummer to him but you win some and you lose some in life and I think he understands that but man, what a way to lose.
