I have coached the game at the HS level, Legion level and College summer level for the past 13 years.
I think I am qualified.lol It is now time for all to get on the same page and get to work.

Remember the best kids will play.

Yeah we had a meeting 2day for baseball with coach bum and his assistants are blackburn and dean lightle. dean helped last year and knows his baseball, i have played baseball with blackburn's son since little league and blackburn knows his baseball also, and coach bum seems 2 be really into the team and wants us 2 do well and we plan on working hard for him.

Bruce Blackburn is a great guy, great baseball man, and a great friend. He and I were pretty close but unfortunately, we have not talked for a while. But I can tell you, there is not a better guy that to try and start to turn a program around. I realize he has a kid on the team, but that won't matter with Bruce. Besides, I know Brandon is a pretty good player anyway.

To be honest, I don't know for sure of Bruce's baseball background as to what level he played in, but I do believe at one point he was playing in the minors.

Bruce has a passion for the game that most players in college doesn't have and while in his later 40s, he was still playing the game and playing it hard. I have seen him play harder than a lot of H.S. kids I have coached against over the years.

I wish Piketon, Brandon, and Bruce the best of luck this year and can tell you all, if Bruce Blackburn is in the dugout, you are in good shape.

If anyone of you guys see Bruce, tell him that his old catching buddy, Matty said "hi".

1985 Piketon won the svc and had to forfiet the season because a kid from Waverly was not living where he reported. :122246 This was reported by Waverly after Piketon beat Waverly. Piketon thus went in to the Tourney 6 and 17. This team reached the State Semi Finals.
Not sure about before but I believe we have not since.
Last winning season was 1999. That year Piketon was beaten by Wheelersburg in District Semis. Josh Newman was the Pitcher.

I love Piketon Baseball, but that is going to be a big job for Mean Gene's first varsity coaching gig! Hope he can turn it around, long time since baseball has been important at Piketon.
