Burg 4
Peake 0

Jordan Russell pitched a great game again for the Pirates. The bats for the Burg were quiet for the most part though. Spencer Hall accounted for all 4 Pirate runs highlighted with a 2 run homer.

Wheelersburg will play Wednesday at Athens High School against Westfall.

I would have to give credit to the Chesapeake pitcher for the Pirates sluggish performance at the plate. He kept the hitters of balance today, and other than Spencer Hall, the entire lineup struggled to even make contact. Spence was on fire today with 4 RBI's and I think the only hits the Pirates had. Depending on how the bunt was scored, he was either 3-3 with two singles and a HR or he was 2-3 with 1 single, a HR, and a Fielders Choice. Russell pitched another jewel, striking out the side in the 7th to get the win. I think the Panthers only had 1 or 2 hits all day as most of their base runners reached on errors. The Pirates have definitely got to get out of the offensive funk they are in and start hitting the ball like they were at midseason. Too many batters are being a little impatient and swinging at bad pitches instead of trying to get ahead in the count and get a good pitch to hit.

Good luck Weds. against Westfall. I'm going to try my darndest to get up to Athens for this one.

Okay, thanks. The paper showed 6 hits, so who had the other one. They also showed Spence as going 3-3, so I guess the bunt was registered as a hit and not a fielders choice.

I only remember 5 hits on the day. Hall 3 (bunt had to be a hit cause all were safe), White 1 and Hopper 1. The 6th one was probably a FC or a on by error.
