Guys help me out on this one. I wasn’t at game but listening. In the seventh they tried to bunt the lead off over, is there some sort of play where the runner doesn’t try to advance if the ball is bunted in a certain spot? Again they didn’t say where the bunt went so I don’t know where the ball went. I like the aggressive move by the batter but not sure on the first part. If the batter doesn’t get out on the bunt, I think Minford wins.

The capital was absolutely packed today. State tourney game , Nations Baseball Tourney, Golf Memorial, OSU graduation, sounds like the game was exciting. Can anyone give a box score or a run down of how this all went down ??

U mean for this year? Every team will have a good team every now and then! Southern Ohio schools just don’t have the population or jobs to keep schools reloading like back in the 80’s and back years(you had Portsmouth, burg, valley, green, New Boston and northwest back in the 80’s that made deep runs every year). That’s because of the population. Also you had 3 of the best coaches in the state in scioto in Tipton, Hagerty and Shuler. You will not see these school have runs like the last couple years anymore or for awhile. Now football is different because of Ohio being a football state. Baseball isn’t Ohio sport which has a lot of bad weather to have good baseball. Ur hot states have fall and spring baseball. It’s either to cold or rainy for baseball where you need to break a sweat and get loose, where football that’s ok

Solid post with lots of truth. Never was around Tipton much but Haggerty and Schuler were both outstanding coaches. I'll add Tim Martin to that list. 20 years of developing fundamentally sound baseball players and young men.

Schools used to hire coaches. Those coaches had long tenures. Now schools have to offer those positions to existing employees first and not all, but some are duds that flat out have no clue how to coach and how to teach fundamentals. So the coaching has fallen off.

Weather is a major issue for baseball around here. In college we had 4 dominicans on our team. It's hard to compete with guys who play baseball year round in great climates.

Good post.
