I see you added Talyor Lemley and Butch Marnhout...

Marnhout hit a Grand Slam shot at Waterford last night and Taylor Lemley hit his first Homerun on the Varsity.... they both were shots... congrats to both

380??? Never looked that deep, but down the lines it is very short. Wellstons field is pretty darn deep in center right where the flag pole is.

I don't know Wheelersburg's lineup very well, but when I saw Wamsley had 5 home runs I tried to figure out who he was during Burg's warm-ups and I thought it was the 1st baseman (Brian White?) because of his size. I didn't realize how small Wamsley was. Thats quite impressive for a guy of his size.

Yeah, Adam is not very big or powerful, but his bat speed is excellent and that's where I think he gets his HR's from. He has always been a hitter since his days in Little League, but just started hitting HR's in the past couple of seasons I believe because I don't remember him hitting very many, if any, in Little League. He is a very good all around baseball player and I wouldn't be surprised to see a nice college team to pick him up. He is also just a super nice kid and very pleasant to be around.

For Zanesville this season I know Wade Kaido hit a GS at Coshocton Village Park and in the same game Adam Young hit a BOMB to left center cleared the fence by 30-40 ft. Adam Young hit his 2nd in the 7th inning against Meadowbrook two days later. I want to say another Blue Devil has hit one but can't remember who or where.

In the case of hitting a homerun, size doesn't matter. If you get a pitcher that throws the ball hard, all you have to do is make solid contact with the ball and there is a good chance it will go.

Those are some impressive homerun totals by the Pirates, but still have along way to go to beat the Pirate record. Got this off of the OHSAA website. They own the number 3 spot with 48 homers in 1999 and they also occupy the number 8 spot with 41. They are the only team on the top ten list twice.

3 48 Wheelersburg (1999)

8 41 Wheelersburg (1997)

In '99, Rick Estep hit 17 or those 48 by himself. Not all were at the Burg either, I saw him go well over straight away CF at the VA in Chillicothe.

John Rose and freshman Adam Ward of Vinton County each got one at Waterford tonight. Johns three run shot went over at about dead center, I believe his fourth of the year. Adams went over in left center just two batters later, his first . Both very well hit. Adam had another shot in the second game that bounced just short of the fence for a triple.
