Gallipolis edges Chillcothe 3-1 in league opener

Gallipolis scored three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to hand visiting Chilllicothe a 3-1 Southeastern Ohio Athletic League defeat on Memorial Field. Wednesday evening.
It was the SEOAL opener for both schools. Gallipolis improved to 1-1 on the season.
The game was played in 50-degree temperatures but it was a bright sunny evening for the diamond contest.
Chillicothe took a 1-0 lead in the first inning, then held off repeated GAHS threats during the next five rungs with outstanding defensive play.
Nick Stevens who got the win, went the distance for GAHS. Aaron Dixon went the distance for CHS and was charged with the loss.
Gallipolis will host Jackson in an SEOAL encounter Friday and will battle Chesapeake in a non-league battle at noon on Saturday.
