Waverly travels to Wheelersburg to take on the Pirates in league play. Game time 5pm. Great day for baseball.

Don't know much about Waverly at this point.

Russell will probably take the hill for the Pirates tonight.

Hope the Pirates can bring home win #4 and go 2-0 in the conference.

I too look for Russell to led the charge from the mound today against the Tigers. Although he only pitched a few innings on Sat., he looked very good. I am more impressed with his pitching each time I see him on the hill. Good luck to the Pirates. I also hope Hopper is intact today.

Wamsley 4-4 , 2 home runs
Cook had 5 RBIs, a home run and got the win.

Waverly and Wheelersburg both battled and showed a lot of heart on both sides. Wheelersburg just had the last at bat.

Jordan battled pretty hard for 5 2/3rds with 14 strikeouts. His fast ball was upper 80's today he did a great job 6-4 burg up when he left, tough no decession for him.

Good tough test for the Pirates last night. Down 4-2 in the 3rd and never lost their composure and kept battling. Waverly is a very solid team. Roback' s lefty curve had most of the Burg hitters off balance late in the game. Began to rely on it more and more as the game wore on. Good change of pace from his fastball. Waverly hit the ball well.

Burg's offense sputtered a bit in the game with the exception of Wamsley and Cook who hit the ball solid. Not the best performance from this team but it is still early. As they begin to play just about every day the hitting will come around.

Russell was solid except for the 3rd. Lost command of the curve and was forced to use primarily his fastball in the 3rd inning where Waverly took over the lead on a couple nice gap hits. Russell went on to rebound the next couple innings and throw well. Cook also delivered a nice performance on the mound.

One game at a time toward a common goal... Win the conference.

Off to Ironton today to face the Tigers. This too should be a good matchup.

That was a tough no decision for Jordan. His fastball was very live but he lost control of his curve ball, which is usually just as devastating as his fastball. But, he battled through it and kept his team in a position to win the game.

Roback, on the other side was very strong as well. Im assuming this is the son of Mike & Susan Roback?

Hats off to Waverly for playing a very good game yesterday at Pirate field. Roback did a very nice job for the Tigers, his breaking stuff and off speed stuff caused problems most of the day. Russell battled hard for the Pirates. Cook and Wamsley had a big day for the Pirates. Good luck to the Pirates the rest of the way. One game at a time men.

WOW, sorry I had to miss this game. Glad to see these seniors doing so well early in the season. Sounds as if Wams was on fire last night, of course, he got the job done like a senior is suppose to do. Great Job Burg!

Can someone tell me if the Walls kid is playing baseball?

Roback did not pitch at the varsity game, he was playing (pitched) JV against the BURG.

My mistake. I thought that was Roback. Who was pitching for Waverly? Robertson?

Yes, Walls is playing baseball.

Who was the pitcher for the Tigers then?
