Athens sent Curtis Goldsberry to the hill as he pitched an excellent game tonight for the JV Dogs. Goldsberry's pitching was overshadowed by the lack of Defense tonight displayed by the JV Dogs, who have been solid in the field up to this game. Goldsberry was relieved in the 7th by Dean Maffin, who suffered the loss for the JV Dogs. Goldsberry allowed 5 hits, 3 walks, and struck out 1 as he threw 6 really strong innings. Maffin, who came in relief allowed 2 hits, hit 1 and struck out 1.
Marietta sent Lucas to the hill as he also pitched a very fine game. Lucas picked up the win pitching 6 1/3 innings. Lucas was relieved by Grzonka in the 7th. Lucas allowed 8 hits, walked 5 and struck out 2. Grzonka allowed no hits, walks in relief striking out 2.
