ATHENS JV (12) @ MEIGS JV (6) [GAME TWO]

Athens comes out strong in a scorefest without a typical slugfest to earn the runs...

Athens sent Jordan Coffman to the hill as he pitched 4 strong innings earning the WIN limiting the Meigs JV to only 2 hits, zero walks and 6 runs while striking out 5. Colton Noftz finished the game setting the Meigs JV down in order 1-2-3 recording 1 strikeout. Meigs sent Hysell to the hill as he suffered the loss. Hysell went 3 1/3 innings allowing 1 hit, 9 walks and 13 runs while striking out 4. Young came in relief allowing 2 hits, 4 walks and zero runs striking out 1.

*This was an agreed upon 5 inning contest by the two teams*

1st Inning-
Andrew Zoulek reached with a walk to start it off. He then took 2nd. Harris then with flyout and Goldsberry with a sac bunt to move Zoulek to 3rd. Zoulek then would score on a past ball. Germano and Gerren would both reach via walks but that'd be it for Athens.
In the bottom half, Whitlach reached on an error then stole 2nd and 3rd. Meadows would then be struck out. Hysell would ground out to 3rd but would score Whitlach on the play. McKinney would be struck out to end the inning. (Tie 1-1)

2nd Inning-
A lead off walk to Kevin Deal would be all Athens would manage in the inning.
In the bottom half, Coffman would K Stewart & Young to start before allowing a single to Hood. That'd be it. (Meigs lead 3-2)

3rd Inning-
Harris would get on via a walk. Harris would move on a Goldsberry ground out and Harris would end up on 3rd. He would score on a pass ball. That'd be all Athens would get.
In the bottom half, Coffman would shut down Meigs JV 1-2-3 (Tie 3-3)

4th Inning-
Athens would explode. Gerren would reach with a walk. Deal would single to move him. Smathers would walk to load the bases. Yates would be struck out. Jason Snoddy would walk to force in Gerren. Deal then would score on a passed ball. Zoulek would walk to reload the bases. Harris then would single to score Smathers. Snoddy would score on a past ball. Goldsberry would walk. Germano then would walk to force in another run. Gerren then would walk to force in another run. Kevin Deal then would send a blast. Deal would double to deep left to score all 3 runners (Goldsberry, Germano and Gerren). Athens would have 3 timely hits wrapped around 8 walks in the inning.
In the bottom half, Meigs would get rolling capitalizing on 3 straight Athens JV errors allowing Stewart, Young and Hood to reach. Stewart, Young and Hood would score in the inning but that would be it. (Athens lead 12-6)

5th Inning-
Athens gets shut down 1-2-3.
In the bottom half, Athens entered Colton Noftz to pitch. He did just that shutting down the Meigs JV 1-2-3. (ATHENS WINS GAME TWO 12-6)
