JACKSON COUNTY AMERICAN LEGION 2nd TRYOUT DATE SET 2008

There will be a tryout for this newly formed team in District 8 toward the end of May. The dates, location are yet to be determined. This team will be comprised of athletes from Jackson County Schools, and anyone else who is interested in playing who may be close enough. (transfer will be required)
The players from Jackson County who played for McArthur or Gallipolis can still play for them, although; if they choose to play for Jackson County I believe they will be permitted as were my sons when Gallipolis started their team, to have a choice of which team to play with.

Thanks Frozen Rope, I was not sure I was going to pull it off, but as luck would have it here I am, at least this way I will be able to give at least 18 more kids in Southern Ohio a chance to play Baseball, maybe even 36 depending on the number of tryouts. Thanks again

The first tryout date is set sunday, may 18th, 1:00, at Oak Hill Highschool Baseball Field until we get all we need to do accomplished, as long as is does not pour the rain.
It will be ran like a pro-tryout, you will be timed in the 60yd dash, timed from base to base, your arm strength will be graded from different locations on the field, pitchers will be looked at for control, location and velocity ( in that order), catchers will be checked for pop time, and blocking ability, velocity.
The only requirement to play is you have to be born after Jan 1st, 1989. You are never to young to tryout.

I will post on here tomorrow regarding the tryout on Sunday, I may move it to Jackson's field,(depending on field conditions) stay tuned.

have you decidede whethere or not the tryout is going to be in Jackson. I believe there may be a good bit of Jackson Boys Playing. What are the numbers you have right now, and where are they from? I would hate for to send a couple players your way and then have the season cancelled due to lack of players.

I was pleased with our first tryout, good numbers, lots of talent, and young enough to build a program with, looking forward to the next tryout( as of now 24th /25th) @ Jackson High School 1:00 both days, unless weather changes our mind.
