Waverly @ Marietta; Sectional Final

Post by utahhatu »

Somehow #5 seeded Waverly travels to #8 seeded Marietta tonight.
Any thoughts on this game? Whats Waverly got for a #2 pitcher and what kind of line up should be expected?

Best of luck to fellow SOC member Waverly in this matchup.

Even though Waverly is the higher seed. Because Marietta beat the #1 seed Jackson, that puts Marietta at the top of the bracket, giving them the home game.

And Waverly won't need their #2 pitcher in this game. Robertson is all they'll need.

Is this game on Thursday? If so Waverly will need their #2 pitcher for this game, because Robertson would only have 3 innings left after pitching 7 against Meigs on Tuesday.

We used some big tarps we had to cover the entire infield and the game was played and the field was actually in fine condition.

Waverly-2
Marietta-4

Marietta is SECTIONAL CHAMPS!!!!!

Two upsets in a row according to seeding ... how did Marietta get the No. 8 seed?

well our record was horrible come seeding time with only 7 wins. But the thing was that we are a very good team with good pitching. we can make the outstanding plays but also at times make errors on the easiest plays. Then there is also the fact that we dont hit the ball very well. Basically we play to our opponents. The most we've been beat by all year is like 6. and that was against new phili and the very next game of the double header we stomped them. but now we are making all the plays. and stringing hits together for once. we arent hitting the ball the best but we are being patient and starting to take advantage of opportunities.
