D3 rankings

Post by SEOfaithful »

Does anyone want to tell me how West is ranked above Wheelersburg in the polls after Burg has beat them 3 times this year by a combined score of 25-2? :?: :?: :?:

Burg didn't get as many coaches votes, simple as that. It's a popularity contest that doesn't really matter, but West being ahead of Burg doesn't make any sense to me either.

What's even more amazing is that Portsmouth received 5 votes. They did beat Gallia last week, but I believe they were something like 5-13 after that win.

Coaches vote on information they recieve from the other coaches. If they don't get info from certain coaches(Burg) they have to rely on info from other coaches for that team. We go over this every year.

It obviously isn't important to Coach Estep, so it shouldn't be taken as a knock on Burg, just the other coaches don't know that they beat West 3 times.

I dont know if your information is all correct even though it might be correct about the wins over West but the truth is their is only a couple of coaches that vote in D-3 from this area, these are the coaches allowed to vote (listed below),. I do also believe that the coaches up north take care of their own instead of giving credit where credit is due. I am also surprised that the West coach who votes wouldnt have passed the information on about his losses. The Burg is 22-2. With that said Go Burg- :?

Email the coaches if you really have this big of a problem with it. I'm pretty sure that most coaches don't have time to research every team in their division, just in case they miss someone. They do have jobs, then coach all week for hours after work, and then, some of them even have families!

No i dont at all- and dont take the posts the wrong way- i just think that Southern Ohio doesn't get the respect they should- These boys South of Columbus work just as hard as any of them do.

Screw the polls. They have and always will be a joke.

Burg just needs to prove it on the field. It is time to shut them all up up North.

No, the polls mean nothing. It's been the same story every year and I would much rather keep playing in Columbus as that's much more fun than seeing where we're ranked in the polls.

If Coach Rapp didn't give Wheelersburg there first place vote they would not have made the polls. He tries to get our region some respect. Wheelersurg should be rated one of the top three teams in d-III with West behind them for sure(3 loses to Wheelersburg). We do have every good baseball in the southern Ohio with little respect. Coach Estep has done a great job with Wheelersburg of getting some. The SOC schools need to speak up more for their teams. Look at the SVC they always have players making All State over ours. Last year the SVC teams had players from two or three different teams make 1st or 2nd team and Wheelersburg a State Tournament finalist had zero. I believe the Westfall and Zane Trace coaches have a vote in the same poll. Wheelersburg beat SVC league leader twice in a doubleheader. I believe you need to question those guys instead of the ones giving you support.

I forgot that the Piketon coach as a vote in the same poll. Call the SVC if you want to make All State or the polls.

I guarantee that the SVC coaches who have votes do vote for Burg. They know how good Burg is year in, year out. They are voting for them.

I am going to be simple with this subject like I have been for years because this topic always comes up with Wheelersburg.
Area coaches vote for Wheelersburg in the polls, but NO information is sent throughout the state.
Same goes for All-State players. Area coaches know about their best players, but there is NO information sent to the other coaches throughout the state.
Don't blame the voting coaches from the SE District.
