Clay had multiple players go 6-6 and only had 6 stolen bases in the game. They only have 12 players on their roster, so it isn’t like they can mass sub.

Western had 7 errors and threw 5 wild pitches.

Yikes, sounds like a rough game. Thanks for the info.

I know Clay is a league foe but If your a decent program why would you waste a non conference game on Western

This is already the fifth game this season where the winning team had 30 or more runs while the losing team had five or less.

So far I've seen: 37-3 (24 run first inning), 30-0, 31-1, 30-0, 32-5. I strongly suspect this number of >30 v <5 will swell up after a couple weeks given that three of the games I just cited were actually league games to be played again under a Double Round Robin.

What I think folks commonly forget is these final scores are largely a product of ridiculous innings. Massive 15-20+ run volleys over three outs in a frame? Yup.

Yep. The year away was a killer for a lot of teams, while some others return a lot of players either with expierence in HS baseball or still played at a fairly high level in the offseason.

Hopefully this will be the worst year for this and it won’t become commonplace moving forward.

Unfortunately, I worry that for the teams on the bad end of the beating it will just hasten the demise of their programs. It's greatly ironic, but equally sad, that the programs where most of the kids presumably do care are the ones to worry about the most here.

The school that was on the butt-end of the 37-3 railroading I mentioned earlier: yearly tuition at that school costs $27,000. Their other scores so far this year are losses to the tune of 20-0, 15-0. Oh, and they just lost 32-0 last night. So that makes my tally at six, now.

They're screwed. A more apt way to characterize their program begins with an "f." And here's the other issue they're dealing with, which I think is contributing to their screwed-up scores: they play at Berliner. Take a guess what happens when your team is not very good and they're forced to deal to a team that has the sticks while playing there.

I’m not surprised that Clay beat someone 31 to 1. This coach has a history of putting up big numbers on people during his time at Clay. If you’d like a comparison to see how other coaches handle games like this in SOC1 look at some of the scores over the recent years involving Symmes Valley. They had some really good teams in recent history and Coach Renfroe I’m sure has never put up 31 runs on anybody. He just would not allow that to happen.
