D3 District Tournament

Post by danicalifornia »

Chillicothe 1 District

9 Adena (14-12) at 1 Minford (21-2)
16 Meigs (15-8) at 12 River Valley (16-8)

Meigs beat River Valley twice, but won’t have Stewart available. While Minford won’t have EVL available and Adena, like Meigs, was a pretty underseeded team.

Chillicothe 2 District

10 Portsmouth (17-12) at 2 Wheelersburg (20-7)
14 Piketon (15-14) at 6 Eastern Brown (19-6)

All games on Monday at 5

Drew Dodson is a pretty respectable #2. I think Meigs has it in the bag. He one-hit us when we played them, so he’s got a good sheet on at least one team as good as (if not, better than) RV.

The fact Meigs was a 16 seed, and not somewhere in the 6-10 range, is also really dumb. Do coaches not think to evaluate records & scores with context?

Most coaches just look at the records and vote straight down. They don't even pay attention who a team has beat or who they play in their non league schedule. It is like that in other sports also.

Sad thing is , even though district did away with face to face , you can still have face to face online technology to host a meeting and still vote online. Friday night or sat night district can host a zoom meeting to talk about teams. Take about 30-45 min then coaches stay online and vote. Just my thoughts.

Great opportunity for Adena with Garrison on the mound.

Proud of the Portsmouth Trojans and Coach Aaron Duncan/his staff on the first sectional championship since 2011. I know Wheelersburg will be a tall task for the Trojans, but whatever happens PHS baseball has had a very good season.

The fact Meigs was an outright league champion and awarded the 16 seed may have been the biggest screw up in the history of southeast district seeding. Just absolutely crazy. I guess they got the last laugh as they will be playing for a district title in a few days with one of the best pitchers in this area on the hill.

I’d like to see what coaches gave Meigs that low of a seed

I have to wonder if they even submitted a resume, because there’s no good reason why they should have been seeded anywhere near that.

Coaches saw Sheridan rip Meigs’ JV pitchers a new hole and thought “hmmm Meigs must not be very good.”

I'm not positive but I don't think Meigs and RV had played at the time of the tournament seeding. What was Meigs record at that time?
