Cambridge baseball edges Bellaire in extras

The Daily Jeff

BELLAIRE — Keaton Kyser's two-out single in the top of the eighth inning brought home Garrett Carpenter for the winning run, as visiting Cambridge edged Bellaire 2-1 and improved to 3-0 after a Buckeye 8 win on Monday.

Jake Valentine earned the victory, fanning nine and allowing one run on three hits in seven innings, while Dawson Geese pitched a perfect eighth for the save.

Cambridge broke up a scoreless game in the third inning when Carpenter scored on a wild pitch, but the Big Reds answered in the home half with Heatherington's RBI single.

The Bobcats only had four hits with Carpenter collecting two singles and Caden Moore also hitting a single.

Both Athens (I think radio guy said he had 12 strikeouts also) and Meigs pitchers had a good game. The only run came on a hit that took a bad hop passed Athens' first baseman after a bunt single and stolen base by Burnem in the first inning

I was at Valley’s last game and Nickel was great. He should have had a no hitter too. For Valley to follow that up with a no hitter from Arnett is really impressive. Those guys have been big time pitchers for years.

I believe the books had athens pitcher at 11ks but both threw excellent games with zero walks.

Wheatly 11ks 0 BB 4 Hits allowed

Stewart 12ks 0 BB 2 Hits allowed

Don’t quote me on this, just what i seen on game changer when i looked after the game
