12u Wild Thang report from Fort Wayne Ind.

We got off to a really rocky start --played a very sound Ind Rebel team that ended up finishing 2nd in the tourney. They got us 5-3 after being tied going into the last inning. Their girl threw really hard, We had a very difficult time catching up to her.

Next in pool play we fell 3-1 to the Summit City Thunder. Our O just could not going. There pitching was good, no free passes , no errors on D .

3rd pool play game was Ind Angels . Our girls finally got the bats going, everyone was hitting , but our D was loose . 6-6 tie. We were not happy with our performance.

Now the Good news---Sunday in tournament play was a new day. Since we played poorly on sat we were a low seed. Drew the 2 or 3 seed out of another pool --Pa. Roadrunners, one of the top teams in Pa. We put some good play together and beat them 3-1 . Confidence and momentum grew as the game went on.

Next up was the # 1 seed Central Ohio Stingrays. Preseason polls don't mean a whole lot but they are highly thought of at the 12u level this year. We continued our good play and got a 5-1 victory. Girls played very well.

Earned a spot in the semis against the Ind Rebel that beat us in pool play. They got to the semis by beating the Ind Thunder 1-0 , as 10's the Thunder won the ASA National Championship last year. The Rebels must travel quite a bit , their coach said they finished 3rd in a disney tourney this winter in florida. We had them down 4-1 but our D got a little loose , they got a couple big hits and got us 7-4.

So we finished tied for 3rd out of 15 teams. Nice turnaround after having a very rough saturday. Congrats girls. MD

Congratulations 12U Wild Thangs! Great way to start the season. Fort Wayne is an awesome tourney. If you've never been there, I recommend it. Good luck the rest of the season WT!

thanks guys --fort wayne is such a super place to play --the competetion that weekend was really good. Wish it were only 2-3 hours away. MD
