Just when you thought you were good. Mercy.

Bloom Carroll beat Wheelersburg 10-0 in 5 innings

Not much shame getting beat in State Semis to one of the best pitchers in OHSAA history. I'm surprised it was a blowout, but still doesn't diminish a great season for the Burg.*

Very good season by the Lady Pirates. As mentioned, Alvelo is one of the best pitchers ever in Ohio and will have her name in the record books several times at the end of this season. With 7 starters returning, Burg will be looking very strong at making another run next season.

Congrats on a great season! Nothing to be ashamed of losing to Alvelo and BC.

Burg ran into a tough pitcher. Hard to see only one class pitcher a year and win. Great run. Good foundation of key starters returning. Early money says Burg with long run next year. Great season.

sad that she has potentially put her team above herself and her school in a tough predicament. I know that "justice" must run its course but whew........

Several years ago, B-C suspended an 18-year old boys basketball starter from the district finals for violating the substance abuse policy. The substance? A pinch of dip. That was not very popular. I don't see the tough predicament here, though. She committed a crime. It should be a no-brainer. If not from an ethical standpoint, then certainly a PR standpoint (especially since they have benefited from open enrollment).

Tremendous softball player, not just pitcher, but player, she's near the top of the all-time home runs list as well. For this mistake that she's made, it's horrible timing and a bad life choice. Unfortunately, it brings an end to her high school career days before state championship. Without her, I don't think they have a chance to win honestly. Hopefully she comes back from this and has a great career at Washington. Overall, she seems like a great kid.

Great kid and player that made a MAJOR mistake. She will have to take her lumps, learn from it and not let it define who she is. Wish her all the best as she starts a new chapter in her life at Washington.

But will Washington even honor her scholarship now? That is the big question, and I'd have to think no. Universities do not want the liability or bad press with student athletes actions.

These next few weeks may hold the fate of her. But her dad recently being accused of stealing money from boosters and now his daughter, what on earth is going on in this household?

You know nothing about this kid. And yes, she is still going to play as a Husky!

Well, there has been word that she isn't going to be eligible to play her first year due to ACT.

Like it said, you don't know this kid. People just like to keep kicking a person when they are down.

Good for Bloom for doing what's right and sitting her down. She made a mistake and had to pay for it.

With that said, if this is the first time, Washington would be crazy to not still bring her in. Stud pitcher and a top recruit and while I definitely don't condone stealing, there are far greater crimes that are forgiven.

Does anyone know if Bloom Carroll won the state final?
