Game 65
Columbus Clippers (Cleveland) 8 Syracuse Mets (Mets) 2
The Clippers used a three run second inning bomb by Trayce Thompson (9) and a RBI ground out from Greg Allen, to jump out to a 4-0 lead and from there this one was all but over.
The Mets did plate two in the bottom of the third, when David Thompson (2) and Tim Tebow (1) both went yard. Tebow is hitting just .157, but that is up .19 in the last week or so.
In the top of the fourth the Clippers got long balls from Eric Haase (11) and Greg Allen (2), to go back up by four. Haase is starting to heat up, after a very, very slow start. Allen seems to be putting the demotion behind him and has again started playing good ball.
The Clippers would score single runs in the sixth and the ninth to complete the 8-2 win and pay the Mets for taking two of three in Columbus earlier this month. The run in the sixth came on a double play ball and the last run of the game came on a Ryan Flaherty single. Flaherty now has twenty four RBI on the season.
Brooks Pounders 2-1 2.55 ERA got the win. The former Colorado Rockies pitcher, has been a blessing for the Clippers, this season. Taking the loss for the Mets was Casey Coleman 0-4 4.21 ERA.

Game 70
Indianapolis Indians (Pirates) 3 Columbus Clippers (Cleveland) 1
Neither team had any good thoughts as far as the ump behind the plate goes. Not only did he seem to miss several easy calls, his strike zone was all over the place.
Indianapolis (26-18) moved to a 1.2 game lead over the Clippers with the win.
The Indians took a 1-0 lead in the third on a double play, that allowed a run to score. The Clippers locked it up at one on a Bobby Bradley (11) solo line drive bomb.
The game stayed that way until the eighth inning, but only after Jeremy Riggs blew a easy called strike three on a Indian hitter. Kevin Kramer (14) plated two on a double. Kramer has 22 RBI on the season and is hitting .285.

Game 71
Lakewood Blue Claws (Philadelphia) 3 Kannapolis Intimidators (White Sox) 2 10 Innings.
Lakewood (16-32) jumped out in front in the first inning, when Luke Miller singled in Luis Garcia to make it a 1-0 game. The game stayed that way until the bottom of the seventh, when Jonathan Guzman singled to score Malvin Matos to give the Blue Claws a 2-0 lead.
In the top of the eighth Ian Dawkins (2) blasted a two run bomb to even things up, at two. Neither team could do anything with the sticks in the ninth, so the game moved to the tenth.
With a runner starting on 2nd base as is the rule in minor league ball, Kannapolis (20-28) would get the runner to third on a sac bunt, but could not bring him home. Lakewood would get a walk and on the fourth ball a wild pitch moved the lead runner to 3rd. So we had two on and zero outs, when a pass ball by catcher Gunnar Troutwine allowed the winning run to score.

Ismael Cabrera 1-0 0.00 ERA
Jason Bilous 2-2 2.96 ERA

Game 72
Columbus Clippers (Cleveland) 15 Indianapolis Indians (Pirates) 9
Columbus (27-19) found their offense in this one, one night after being held to just one run the night before. The Indians (26-19) score six runs more than they did the night before, but they still lost.
Adam Rosales (Western Michigan) has started to come out of his season long slump, that started in the Minnesota organization. He led the Clippers with 4 hits and 2 RBI. Eric Stamets (3) only had two hits, but one was a grand slam. He totaled 4 RBI and 2 Hits. Daniel Johnson, who was just called up from Akron had 2 hits and 3 RBI. I believe I had said he was going to be called up soon. Trayce Thompson (11) again and he had 2 RBI. Bobby Bradley (.281) had 2 hits and 2 RBI. With Cleveland stinking things up offensively Bradley has to be opening some more eyes up there. Ryan Flaherty got 1 RBI for the winners. Brandon Barnes, who has seemed to have lost his power stroke, still had 2 hits and 2 RBI.

For the Indians, José Osuna (2) blasted a bomb and a double to go with 6 RBI to lead the way. Kevin Kramer (5) went yard and drove in a run. Will Craig (13) went yard and he had a double to go with 1 RBI. Ke'Bryan Hayes had 2 hits and 1 RBI.

Asher Wojciechowski 4-1 3.64 ERA

Game 73
Biloxi Shuckers (Brewers) 4 Mobile Bay Bears (L.A. Angles) 2
The good news for the Bay Bears (19-30) was they broke their 26 inning non-scoring streak but the bad news is they lost again.
For the Shuckers (28-22) they had to overcome blowing a 2-0 lead to win this one, with single runs in the 8th and 9th. Trent Grisham (6) got this one started in the first, with a two run bomb. After all was said and done he would have 4 hits and 3 RBI to lead the winners. Dillon Thomas (.265) had a RBI and one hit. Weston Wilson (.248) had two hits.
For the Bay Bears, Brandon Sandoval (.279) and Jahmai Jones (.186) both knocked in a run. Brendon Sanger (.217) had two of his teams six hits.

Game 75
Las Vegas Aviators (Oakland) 9 Reno Aces (Arizona) 7
This was the typical P.C.L. game, a lot of offense with spotty pitching.
The Aviators (28-24) needed a four run ninth to get the win in this one.
Stefan Crichton (1-2 4.18 ERA) gave up 4 runs and five hits in the ninth and took the loss, for the Aces (21-30). Seth Brown ( Lewis-Clark State) double the first run in. Sheldon Neuse plated the 2nd run of the inning in. Beau Taylor (3) hit a two run bomb to bring in the third and fourth run. Brown (.290) had four hits, while Neuse and Taylor each had two. Neuse led the trio with 3 RBI, while the other two had two each. Corban Joseph (5) had three hits and one RBI, on his solo bomb and Mark Payton (Texas) had two hits and one RBI. Getting the win in relief was, Brian Schlitter (4-1 4.74) He was not special, as he gave up 4 hits and 2 runs in two inning of work. Picking up the save was, Ryan Dull (3 5.21 ERA).
For the Aces, Matt Szczur had three hits, including a home run (3) and he added two RBI to his line. Tyler Heineman (.329) had a hit and two RBI. The catcher from UCLA is having a good season thus far. Cody Decker (UCLA) and Juniel Querecuto each drove in a run.

Game 76
San Jose Giants (San Francisco) 2 Lancaster Jet Hawks (Colorado) 1
My night cap was a California League game and it turned out to be a pitching dominated game. The Giants (22-26) Jake Wong (Grand Canyon) went the first six, giving up three hits, one earned run, while striking out four and issuing just one base on balls. Wong squared his record at 1-1 and lowered his ERA to 4.50. Caleb Simpson (Hold 5 ERA 0.00) threw 1.2 innings allowing zero hits. He walked two and had three strikeouts. Picking up his fifth save was, Frank Rubio. ERA 0.34 after going 1.1 innings. Leading the Giants offense was, Kyle McPherson (James Madison) he blasted his fifth homer and drove in one run. He was 2-2 with a walk. Bryce Johnson (Sam Houston State) went 1-3 with a RBI. Also with two hits was, David Villar (.261).
For Lancaster (26-23) Ramon Marcelino (7) went deep to produce the only run they scored. Lucas Gilbreath 2-2 3.68 ERA (Minnesota) threw seven innings, allowing nine hits two earned runs. He did have some control issue (4 walks). He somewhat countered that with 5 strikeouts.

Wagner Lagrange (2) counted for all four runs in the seventh by hitting a grand slam.He would total two hits in this one and four RBI. Shervyen Newton (2) had a two run bomb, he would total three hits in this one. Chase Chambers (Tenn Tech) had the teams other RBI.

Game 80
Pawtucket Red Sox (Boston) 7 Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs (Phillies) 3 7 innings.
The Red Sox (20-29) put this one away with three unearned runs in the bottom of the sixth. Bryce Brentz hit a grand slam to give the Six a lead they would never give up. For Brentz the slam was like the one he hit last Wednesday and gives him seven homers on the season. As a team the Sox had just three hits, as their offense continues their season long struggle.

The Iron Pigs (26-22) got a two run bomb from Damek Tomscha (5). Deivy Grullon had the other RBI for the Pigs. In all the Pigs had eight hits, with Rob Brantly getting two of them.

Josh A. Smith W 2-2 5.88 ERA
