Valenth's College Football Playoff Thoughts.

Post by Valenth »

Back again after the Reveal of the Final College Football Playoff Bracket and I have a few things to say about this Mess.

We thought a 12 team Bracket would Fix things... NOPE .. We still got controversy and angry teams!

#1. The committee spoke and said they don't punish teams for "Losing a conference Chanpionship Game."

The question I Must ask. How Alabama wasn't Punished for being DAWGWALKED BUT .. BYU was? The level of the Hypocrisy is off the charts. We know they always Tilt the favoritism to the SEC.

The argument here is. Alabama Lost to a Sub .500 Florida State. Barely Escaped a Very MID South Carolina and Lost to Oklahoma and Georgia. THREE LOSSES.

BYU's only losses was to Texas Tech. Who arguably is playing like a Top 3 Team in the Country. TWO DANG GOOD LOSSES.

#2. Leaving Notre Dame out of the Playoff is absolutely a Travesty.

Notre Dame should have been in. And Alabama out.
Notre Dames losses was to TWO CFP Teams in Miami and Texas A&M.

I think its seriously time for Notre Dame to join a conference to avoid this Mess again. They already opted out of a Bowl game for this season to Stick it to the Committee. Which seems like this Committee once again is showing the SEC Bias.

#3. Indiana Proved themselves Saturday Night

The Hoosiers played tough and won the B1G Championship. Time for the Buckeyes to regroup and prepare for the Playoffs. And I give props to the Hoosiers on their win.

#4. Tulane and James.Madison in... Good luck to them!

I believe these two teams are in an Uphill Battle. With them the best of Luck.

#5. ACC ... Just a Hot Mess.

Duke Knocked off Virginia... ACCs new rules for a conference championship oddly ebough handed Miami the Berth as opposed to the 5 Loss Duke team. There was so much Drama in the weeks leading up to this upset. It was hard to keep track at times!

In the End. I would not be surprised in the Future we see ANOTHER EXPANSION of the College Football Playoff.

Thoughts?

I partly agree val, No way Bamma should have got in over ND, but BYU is not in a strong conference compared to Big Ten or SEC, got slaughtered twice by the one good team they played. They didn't have one really good win, at least bamma beat Georgia at Georgia, so I can see why they left them out, but the real travesty is teams like James Madison and Tulane getting in. I would be shocked if their games are even semi competitive. If they really want the twelve BEST teams (like they always proclaim) they are going to have to change the selection process so teams like ND don't get left out. There is too much loyalty to every conference and lower-level teams getting in. They should give more preference to rankings and strength of schedule over conference loyalty, imo

That is a good Point. But I keep going back to that Alabama loss to Florida State.. and the close call to a very meh South Carolina. And on top of Georgia "Dawgwalking" Alabama was what I took into account. Texas Tech IMO is a top 5 team. And my guess is they will make it far in the CFP..

However. The one thing that also put Alabama in was Duke's win over Virginia. What is weird about this is. Neither Miami or Duke played Virginia or Duke. (WHICH BOTH HAVE HEAVY ACC Schedules) If Virginia would have won. Alabama would have been out. I think that was a determining factor as well.

Notre Dames Losses were Better than Miamis. And Miamis Losses was SMU and Louisville. Miami beating Notre Dame was also the deciding factor. But they shouldn't have waited the week when neither played. It made the committee look really suspect.

I agree that Alabama is not that good. This is the worst rushing team they've had in 30 years, and the QB is not good enough to make up for it. It's a safe bet to pencil in Oklahoma on the Rose Bowl Football Pool. DeBoer is on really thin ice with those Saban spoiled fans. He might be the next TTUN coach.

That pick wasn't so safe after all. I'm going to have to use my pencil eraser and get Choklahoma back out of there.
DeBOER might have saved his job for another year
The playoff committee is probably beating their chest tonight.

Well after the quarterfinals we have the semis of Oregon vs. Indiana and Miami vs. Ole Miss. Is it the Hoosiers to hoist the trophy ?

They would be my pick. I sure hope Miami don't win after that clown show by Irvin.
