... wasn't sure what to expect driving down Rte 33 to Meigs High School as Fairfield Union was coming off of a 60-47 loss to London High School @ FU on Monday night and Meigs? I wanted to see where the Marauders stood as a TEAM heading into the seeding stretch couple of weeks ... Re: Fairfield Union 50 Meigs 49 a final
Excellent recap Pfloyd. FU dominated the boards. I'd be curious to see the team rebound and overall shooting numbers. FU seemed to have gotten 10-15 more shots. The Marauders do not rebound well at all. That will (and has) cost them in every game outside of the TVC.pfloyd wrote: Wed Jan 21, 2026 12:18 am Fairfield Union 50

@Bigtimefan ... I was thinking the same thing - that FU dominated the boards - it wasn't even close ... there were trips on the offensive end that FU had 3 & 4 "shots on goal" ! BUT when I looked at the putbacks for points - FU only had 2 for the entire game ...Bigtimefan wrote: Wed Jan 21, 2026 7:16 amExcellent recap Pfloyd. FU dominated the boards. Re: Fairfield Union 50 Meigs 49 a final
Thanks for the info. I should have looked at that in your notes.
It was a good game. I thought both teams played some pretty good defense. The late foul shooting for Meigs sealed their fate. The FU strategy to put them on the line worked to perfection.
It was a good game. I thought both teams played some pretty good defense. The late foul shooting for Meigs sealed their fate. The FU strategy to put them on the line worked to perfection.
Re: Fairfield Union 50 Meigs 49 a final
Don't understand why Meigs did not foul late in game to take time off clock, they had 3 to give. Not saying they would have won but it does take time to reset plays.
Re: Fairfield Union 50 Meigs 49 a final
Pfloyd........thanks for the review. Just to clarify something minor that you reported. FU did not lose to London at Home. They played at Ohio Dominican college in a Holiday showcase.
Re: Fairfield Union 50 Meigs 49 a final
... Thanks @Smeltzy ... I knew that! I was talking to Coach Helber last night before the varsity game and we discussed some issues (ie. the tourney director changing the game time without notifying FU etc.) for some reason - it just didn't sink into my 70 year old head ...Smeltzy wrote: Wed Jan 21, 2026 9:46 pm Pfloyd........thanks for the review. Those of us who know realize it wasn't Howie. This season is playing out as some (like Reed) thought it might.DUNK1 wrote: Fri Jan 23, 2026 3:50 pmHowie got that Reed boy to come back to Racine this season.Almost Champions wrote: Thu Jan 22, 2026 6:21 pmMeigs cant beat nobody cuz the coach cant Reeditsme wrote: Wed Jan 21, 2026 2:21 pm Don't understand why Meigs did not foul late in game to take time off clock, they had 3 to give. These Meigs players are getting a raw deal out of this one. That coach is a problem and his kid isn’t helping. I feel for the kids who are good ball players & aren’t getting the opportunity. Meigs has good players. Tracy, Cleland. Both good athletes and good players. But when the coach’s son can do whatever he wants/ just makes for bad everything.
Hopefully someone will see the writing on the wall. I’m sure he’s done when his kid graduates. Especially if he is going on to the next level.
Brinegar was smart and got out. He had a place to land since he was open enrollment at Meigs. Doesn’t lose any time and gets to play basketball. Smart move on his part.

I've watched Meigs last year and caught their live stream this year vs Westfall, I'm in SVC country. Heard a lot about this year's Meigs team playing " daddy ball". From Meigs or TVC posters, what exactly is going on? Anyone care to elaborate? From the outside looking in they seem to have a pretty good team.Lucky Charms wrote: Sat Jan 24, 2026 2:14 pmSmells like a good old case of daddy ball.SEOsportchamp23 wrote: Fri Jan 23, 2026 10:15 pm These Meigs players are getting a raw deal out of this one. I'm not sure much more detail needs to be shared. Some of us know. If this was the NBA or even college, I think a more direct discussion might be fair. But this is high school. Just my opinion.MadeInRossCounty wrote: Sat Jan 24, 2026 3:16 pmI've watched Meigs last year and caught their live stream this year vs Westfall, I'm in SVC country. Cleland is a good kid but on most teams, he would be the 6 or 7 manSEOsportchamp23 wrote: Fri Jan 23, 2026 10:15 pm These Meigs players are getting a raw deal out of this one.
